The song is entirely original except you may notice that the snare drum was sampled from the classic break God Made Me Funky because I wanted to give the track a little AM radio feel.
Mars's original concept for the song was that it would start with him tuning the radio while he's waiting in his bucket (probably rubbing one out in broad daylight) for some jailbait to walk home from school. That's why the first four bars of the song are filtered to sound more like an AM radio station.
