Let's just call this what it is. GRRM is a fat, slow writing piece of shit. This series was supposed to be 3 books. Then it was supposed to be 4. Then he split books 4 and 5 up because he didn't know what he was doing. Now its 7 books. He doesn't outline. He has no real idea what he's doing, except that he knows the ending. He makes up all these random characters that are red herrings and have no real reflection on the story. He should be narrowing the scope of the books, and he keeps expanding. The whole things is completely out of his control. The train has jumped off the tracks.

THATS why the show is departing from the books. Because the shows writers actually understand a compelling story and want to deliver to the readers. Lady Stoneheart and Berric Dondarrion and probably Jon Connington and all those other people are a waste of time. The more I read the books, the less faith I have in GRRM.

Everybody just stop what you're doing and go pick up the Stormlight Archives by Brandon Sanderson.

I had a very well written rebuttal to that article because it's retarded but my screen froze so Im gonna go ahead and take that as a sign. But that's still fucking retarded
Sansa isn't a plot device that you can plug into a random character getting raped and say it's ok because the character she replaced was raped. She basically represented rape victims in the book without it happening to her, and the show dudes didnt understand that. It's hard to explain, but there's justification towards being upset about it

IMO the show is a window into humanity, the good and the bad. And guess what, rape happens in real life too.

Thousands of women around the world today are sold into slave marriages, but someone puts something similar on a television show and now its an affront to our sensibilities? LOL get out of here.

I think the issue is that she didn't get raped in the books. The TV show has added a lot of rape scenes that don't have anything to do with moving the storyline along. They did it just for viewership. I think when you're showing people getting raped on TV just because you think that's what the viewers expect of you, its just a sign that we live in a shitty society. It wasn't necessary.

Now, if all these rape scenes happened in the book, it would be different.

Not only that, but the Starks seem to be the "wipping boy" of the series. So why stop now? Its just another fucked up thing to happen to them. Thats how I saw it. Plus i feel that it gives fuel to Theon possibly going ape shit on Ramsey and killing him. The rape itself, IMHO, has not real value. However, Theon being made to WATCH the rape does...

I disagree, sort of. Yes, it does add "shock value" but guess what? Back before we were civilized people, rape was common as fuck. So were really gruesome killings. It follows the idea that the medieval, or dark ages, was FUCKED UP (yes, i understand dragons and witches never existed, but keep on track here).

But there's tons of rape in the books, tons of it. Far worse stuff than in the show. So what does that say about society? I don't understand that.

I disagree they did it for viewership, it's one of the most popular shows already, they don't need to add a rape scene for viewership and the audience certainly wasn't expecting Sansa to be raped, they didn't do it because that was expected. I think there have been two rape scenes in the show? Sansa, Jamie and his sister was a bit rapey but possibly not intended, what else?

Regardless, rape is apart of life, it's apart of our history, it's apart of this fantasy world in the books.

Unnecessary? Why? Wouldn't most of the murders be unnecessary then under the same kind of logic? I just don't understand the backlash here regarding rape but everything else is ok. Let's cut Theon's dick off and eat a sausage in front of him! Was that necessary? No, but it was awesome.

I'm a book reader myself, only I've purposely not read past the show.

With Sansa being with the Boltons and marrying/getting raped by Ramsey, it probably will speed up some of the storylines a lot faster. There are a number of explanations that I'm not going to go over, but the point is we have to wait and see how the rest of the season and next goes before we can judge if it was a bad decision or not.
Well once you read all the books and the released chapters taken from GRRM's readings at events, you'll see Sansa is nowhere near Winterfell in the current main storyline.

I get it, it's just a tv adaptation. But it is so far off base, it should be called something else, like Game of Ratings.

I agree that the TV show was prematurely made when the entire thing hasn't been written yet. That's the real problem here. It's his story so he can add as much as he wants right? I mean even comics go on and on and on.

Is the Sanderson shit complete and is it going to be made into a TV show? I'd like to know before I go getting invested in a book series again.

I'm fully aware of that. I'm not that far behind the show (some stuff is ahead of the show actually).

That is true for every TV/movie adaptation, ever. You cannot have 100% accurate portrayal of a book on film it's simply not possible, especially for something as MASSIVE as A Song of Ice and Fire. It would take like 30 seasons to complete this if they followed every detail in the book with every character. The fact they've even pulled off what they have thus far is an amazing accomplishment. You should feel lucky enough to live in a time where a major network had the balls to attempt to bring this to TV. I'm not saying it's perfect, I'm not saying they couldn't have done certain things better, but considering everything they've done one hell of a job. For all of the certain things people complain about, they've done amazingly well with other things. Some of the best TV in recent times has taken place in Game of Thrones.

They did a proper job in the first 3 seasons. Thereafter, the show has been going down in a bag of flaming shit. The last episode was the worst depiction of ASOIAF thus far. With 4 more episodes, I don't expect it to get better. I guess I should "feel lucky" but I don't.

I've been trying to finish the last book in the Mistborn series but it drags on so much I keep putting it down for months at a time. It's seriously the worst character progression ever, makes you appreciate A Feast for Crows a lot more. I was going to start the Raven's Shadow series next but I'll flip a coin between that and Stormlight if you say so.

Stormlight has two books finished out of a planned ten, right?

I can't trust any of these new epic fantasy novels or massive novels whatever u want to call them because since the recent success of Game of thrones, all these publishers are pushing for the next big thing, so we see first time authors and little experienced author's trying to make these massive fucking novels and it just doesn't work that way. George RR Martin was already a well established writer and it took him years to get to that point, and even then it was never meant to be this fucking big, it just got way out of hand for him.

There are very few writers that can really pull shit of this magnitude off. Most of the new ones just can't compare. I've tried getting into a few, read reviews saying so and so is the next GRRM, fall for the hype and it sucks! GRRM didn't invent this of course, there have been plenty before him, but he's popularized it in recent years. So we're seeing a wave of young authors getting contracts to write ten novels and shit, and it's just too much. There are pleeeenty of good ones that are already finished so I would suggest researching ones that are considered greats and start from there.

The Kingkiller Chronicle was my favorite but it looks like Rothfuss ran into a wall like GRRM and can't finish it. Joe Abercrombie is probably the most enjoyable, The Bloody Nine series was the most fun I've had reading in awhile. It's all blood and guts and evil wizards and heavy metal fantasy like Conan

That's what I said I was doing all along. I'm explaining my reasoning to people that make generalizations based on the tv show, blogs with incorrect facts or other uninformed sources, why the show isn't a "good" representation of the story its based on. It's cool if you enjoy it.

I was hoping that wilding bitch would get raped just to hear the backlash lol

Sam finally got some of that wilding pussu, good on him.

I knew the religious fanatics would turn on cersei, just didn't realize it would be that quick!

And finally the sand snakes did something cool - display some firm tiddies. Not the best shot but only thing I could find.

Overall I liked the episode. No complaints.
