I think it's because in the books we're seeing the makings of all the revenge that's about to happen, so we know all of this terrible shit that's happening isn't for nothing/shock valaue. In the show there's nothing there, it's just drama piled onto drama until one of the good guys kills a bad guy and then we're happy. For instance in the book we have
small book spoilers
the Manderlys, Stoneheart, the Ghost of Winterfell, Mance & the Spearwives, "the north remembers", Blackfish escaping Jaime, "vengeance, justice. Fire & blood", Stannis' flaming sword etc. Then on the show we have Brienne sitting in a trailer and... a corkscrew.

Let me try to explain it better. I think HBO is treating us like we're stupid. I think the past few seasons have had great storylines. I think this season is boring as hell. And the show writers were like "instead of putting effort into a good storyline, which we're known for, we're just gonna keep pushing the shock-value envelope, which we're also known for."

End of the day, if this all leads up to something that has a real solid influence on the story, then great. But if not, then it was a cheap ratings grab.
Ok, but 2-0-Sixx has already pointed out that they have no REASON to get "cheap ratings"...its one of the highest rated shows on Cable the last 4 years in a row. So that just doesnt add up.

So far, EVERY thing written, that i can recall, has been there for a reason. So why would we not trust the writers now all of a sudden????

I just feel people get too emotionally attached to characters and since Sansa has been there this entire time, she has grown on A LOT of people. She is a protagonist, and people most usually pull for the good guy. All the other Stark's died early on, so the attachment wasn't there as much as it is for Sansa. Thats my take on it anyways.

I think the big thing for me is that this season is a complete departure from the books, so I don't know what the reason for stuff is anymore. I stopped trusting writers after Lost ended. I generally think Hollywood is about making money in a formulaic way. They needed to start coming up with their own new, original content, and they aren't George RR Martin. So there's probably a couple stupid writers in a room that are like 'duhhh what do we do now that we're caught up with the books?' and someone's like "Rape. People love rape. Let's rape Sansa."

You guys could be right and I could be wrong. I hope that I am.

Btw I think Sansa is a whiney bitch and the worst protagonist on the show.

You just described all TV, breh. lol
lol yeah, worded that weird. I was trying to say they're taking all the subtlety and slow burning stuff from the books and hot-shotting it. I know they're trying to condense two huge books that don't translate well to tv into one season so that's where the frustration comes from. Like I mentioned about it feeling weird when Dany tells the guy they're getting married out of the blue. They ran into the same problem as GRRM by writing too much story for the amount of time that they have left to tell it and it's becoming really obvious. If they wrote the first season the way they're doing this one they would have had Jaqen playing the roles of Syrio, Yoren, Gendry & The Hound just so they wouldn't have to create anyone new.

Btw I think Sansa is a whiney bitch and the worst protagonist on the show.
I finished Mistborn today. It might as well have ended with Ruin raping Vin and then getting killed with a corkscrew

Lol no man, GRRM and the writers/producers talked about where the books are going because quite obviously the show is passing the books, so they already know what the conclusions are, but like I said before they will just have different ways of getting there. They can't just sit around with their thumbs up their butts doing nothing, they have to write something to get the stories to the end.

Sansa getting raped serves a purpose. Like I said before it literally is no different than Daenerys situation. Exactly the same. The only difference is one didn't happen in the books.

For me it's cool they are departing from the books because I haven't read that far, so for one, it's going to be cool when everything is new even to book readers (don't have to hear about the complaints, don't have to accidentally read spoilers) and also because I'm planning on finishing the books later so it's like two separate stories I'll get to enjoy and see how the books turn out differently or whatever.

If this ends up making Sansa a worthwhile character, then its all good.
To your point, this DID end up making her a "worthwhile" character for lack of a better term.

Below, the rape helps, absolutely. As the protagonist

It's weird how women view rape scenes. The show is fictional why is it controversial to have rape in a show? They think it is not ok. Like having a made up character get raped is terrible but Ray McDonald has raped at least 19,999 bitches in the last two months and they don't care. Bolton is fake, but Ray might really be coming for you you small brain Sebastopol dikes

And in the books Sansa gets raped by like 20 dudes when kings landing riots and the hound saved her afterwords lol. At least she only got raped by one dude.

That reminds me of my childhood. Great show
