Canelo >>> Lara. Plus it would be for the middleweight crown assuming Canelo beats Cotto. And not too mention a super fight.

I think Lara is a solid fighter, he is skilled but he is no Mayweather like you say or else Lara would be dominating 154 but he hasn't. He's always in these super close fights that he narrowly wins or narrowly loses. He was in a super close fight Vanes, he was in a super close fight with Angulo for crying out loud who dropped Lara twice and Lara is going to be a big step up for Golovkin, who is bigger, stronger, more experienced, more technically sound and all around better than Angulo in every possible aspect? I don't see it bro. I think guys like Martin Murray and Monroe would beat Lara at middleweight because they are actually middleweights. I guess the only thing I see from what you're saying is Lara has a particular STYLE of fighting that Golovkin hasn't seen recently as a pro, but the size/strength difference and CLASS all favors GGG, heavily. If Lara was bigger, naturally, and stronger I think it would be interesting but he's not. I think Lara is talented enough to hang with some top middleweights, but Golovkin isn't one of them.
Lol Lara would school those other chump middleweights you named lol. GGG would be a good fight I agree but dont mention those other scrubs lol. Got Em!!

@ 150,000 ppv buys for GGG vs Lemieux is not surprising at all. I've said before that HBO had to take the Lemieux vs N'Daam fight, aired a legit Faceoff, and a 24/7. They just did 2days or whatever. This was HBO's fault.

Why you do care so much about PPV buys? No one was expecting this to be big and K2 even said they were only hoping for 200k-250k. The point of the PPV was to get Lemieux in the ring otherwise he would have walked and GGG wouldn't have got a unification fight. They had to sweeten the deal by offering more money, a PPV and a split of the revenue. They got what they wanted which was Lemieux's title.

I just really don't think it matters all that much. All parties involved are likely satisfied, they did well on the live gate, and with hype the replay will likely have good ratings on HBO.

Canelo was fortunate to have his PPV debut against Floyd, Floyd was fortunate his was against Gatti, even Cotto got Judah for his first PPV - all guys that American boxing fans are familiar with. As long as he continues his impressive performances and the hype machine behind him stays strong he'll be fine.

Exactly my point, all those other PPV's were PPV worthy and had two good fighters while this wack PPV had a unknown building his name and another super unknown who barely knows himself lol. Got Em!!

What part of the ppv being mostly about the title do you not understand? Were they building the GGG brand? Yes. Did they break even? It appears so. Was the fight sold out? Yes. Was Lemieux goign to enter the ring for anything less than the $1.5 million he got? No. Going the PPV route was the only way they could make the money and then some. So take out the 150k buys and do the math. that's $7.5 million they would have missed out on if they didn't go the ppv route. Who was going to cover that? HBO?

Dont care, thats a wack number for a PPV and it should have never been a PPV. Yall can find reasons as to why it was but 150k is 150k. Booboo PPV numbers. I think more people would pay to see Floyd and Bieber fucking than that fight lol. Got Em!!

Golovkin-Lemiuex sells roughly 150,000 PPVs - Bad Left Hook

In what proves to be an interesting dichotomy, multiple industry sources are saying Gennady Golovkin's PPV debut against David Lemieux registered only about 150,000 buys, with at least one source saying it was even less than that. Obviously everyone involved hoped for a much better showing on the PPV market, but this is a rather surprising juxtaposition since Golovkin-Lemieux was a pretty hot ticket and did extremely well at the live gate -- breaking a pre-sale record and ultimately selling-out Madison Square Garden to the tune of 20,568 in attendance.

Could this mean that Golovkin is not as big of a star as we all might've thought? It's certainly possible. Golovkin failed to hit the 300,000 mark that both Oscar De La Hoya and Floyd Mayweather hit on their first PPV, and even did much less than Shane Mosley's "500,000" buys for his recent rematch with Ricardo Mayorga (however ridiculous that claim was). Tom Loeffler, Golovkin's promoter, had said prior to the fight that about 200,000 buys would be sufficient to make the fight a financial success. In that sense, it appears this wasn't.

So if HBO was testing the PPV market for Golovkin here, that aspect surely wasn't a home run, but probably more like a drag bunt single, if that. It looks like the network, promoters, marketers, etc. still have their work cut out for them to bring Golovkin into the big time.

***UPDATE***

Well it seems things are worse than originally estimated. I just received word that after another day of number crunching, Golovkin-Lemieux is struggling to hit even 125,000 PPV buys. Ouch!

Haha. Got Em!! :cheeky:

What point are you trying to make here? You can go to the first page of the GGG-Lemieux thread long before the fight happened explaining why this was on PPV (in order to pay Lemieux what he was demanding) and that it probably only needed to do 100k to break even and that the total buys are expected to be low.

This isn't some Mayweather vs Pacquiao debate where people were arguing over PPV buys constantly, which was a sad part boxing fans history I might add, so I don't get what you're getting wiled up about. No one claimed Gennady, a guy from Kazakhstan, would be the next PPV king or anything like that at all. Golovkin vs Lemieux was going to be on regular HBO, they couldn't secure Lemieux with HBOs budget so they had to put it on PPV. It's as simple as that. Furthermore it was his first PPV against an opponent without a name that he was heavily favored against. Obviously if they make a PPV against someone with actual name value it will do much better.

You're wasting your time. When I made my post his first sentence was "don't care." and since my post is basically the same as yours, it's useless to go into it.

At least he said Floyd and Bieber are fucking each other so he can;t be all that bad, right?
