I wouldn't say his movies are a good introduction to his comedy, since he blew up mainstream wise over night, people might just see him as a gimmick. Check out Live At The Purple Onion or the Comedians of Comedy tour movies. His stand up isn't normal tho, his comedy is usually more about awkwardness.

Yeah I first heard about him a couple years ago through Live At The Purple Onion.. I was watching like wtf is this guy doing talking hella soft into the microphone playing the piano lol but his shit ended up being hella funny.

I'm still surprised he's become a mainstream success. Didn't imagine it.
