I'm still pretty ignorant when it comes to SD rap. It wasn't until I heard the likes of Mitchy Slick and Ecay Uno on compilations that I realised that SD had some damn tight artists. Since then I've tried to find out more info on SD artists, but it's like trying to find a needle in a haystack (especially for an aussie). None of the stores sell real hip hop down here, so I have to buy all my discs from internet stores, mostly rapbay.com, frisco street show and the SICC shop. I can't get any 'underground' SD, so you all need to get together and collaborate and take Dago to the people rather than let the people come to you. You've got so many tight artists, all you need is some good exposure and I guarantee people will be hooked regardless of where they're from.
And dropping SD-exclusive mixed tapes will definately appeal to people who are already into SD rap, but the rest of the world will still remain ignorant of your talent. What MITCH said before is real - you need to represent more on discs with bigger names such as yukmouth - anyone who already has a big fan base and distribution networks. People who don't know SD rap will buy the album for the bigger names and then realize 'wow, this Mitchy Slick is pretty tight, I'm gonna have to get his album'. That's how I found out about SD talent and I rekn thats how you can get everyone else to find out about it too.
