I had a full review in the works, but just dont have time to finish it. I will say I really enjoy this album, with only a few songs in the middle being skips, I think I will be listening to this album for some time to come. Ive given the album some time to really settle with me, so now is as good a time to put my review up as any.
In the past ive rushed to review albums, which has garnered said albums a higher score. Probably due to the fact that the lust for new Tech took precedence over what the long term opinions might have been... So here we go.
1. The Pledge (Its a fucking intro/10)
Not a huge fan of the whole "cult" theme, but the intro does a good job at what its supposed to do, Introduce.
2. Technicians (8.5/10)
Again, Im not huge on the whole "cultish" direction, but the song itself is a great addition to the Tech N9ne discography. Ive gone to looking at these collection of songs(the first section of the CD) as more of a unity feel and less as the "cult" direction. Over all this song is FAR from a skip to me.
3. Military Skit (Skit/10)
I get why they split up the intro and this, but I honestly could have done with the two being combined... It does add a little more to the feeling I think they were going for though.
4. Am I a Psycho (7.5/10)
Another strong song in my book. As a fan of everyone on the track, I really enjoyed it. The beat adds to the mood of the song, and everyones verses come correct. Only qualm for me is the chorus, just feel like i'm being screamed at while its on... Thats not to say I dislike it persay, just felt a little ackward to me. Again, a great collab track.
5. He's a Mental Giant (7.75/10)
I have to say, I wasnt a huge fan of this song as a single... with that said, I think this track couldnt have been more properly placed on the album. The entire feel of the first section of the CD comes to a head with this and WWC. A great display of the fast, style switching Tech that I enjoy, which has me wondering why I didn't feel that way when I first heard this song. Gives credit to the fact that this is a complete ALBUM and not a collection of songs. Oh and... This song fucking slaps. I can roll my windows down and turn this shit WAY up and turn heads. The video still has me confused though.
6. World Wide Choppers (9/10)
Ill start with the fact that I am a huge fan of the Chopper series and this is, in my opinion, the best of them all. With so many features I worried the song would suffer, but I couldnt have been happier to eat my own words. A perfect song for any fan that has never seen what Tech is about. (Although I think he raps a little quicker on He's a Mental Giant, then here.)
7. We Miss You Man Man (Skit)
Huh?
8. I Love Music (6.0/10)
The beat on this song ruins what it could have been, to me. The lyrics are on point, and the idea is definitely there, I just felt like it was Bad Season all over again... Which would be fine, IF I was listening to Bad Season. This albums entire tone seems so far from what I got from this song.
Ill try n finish this some time soon.
