your favorite songs of all time?

Yeah IMO Alice In Chains is one of the best bands ever. Funny enough I was torn between Would?, I Stay Away, Rooster and Down in a Hole as which one to put for Alice In Chains. I picked Would? because I am also a huge Mother Love Bone fan and the song was written by Jerry Cantrell asking Andrew Wood of MLB if he kicked herion would Andrew as well. Even though Would? came out in 1992 and Wood died in 1990 the song was written before Wood died.

My top three always change between Alice In Chains, Tool and Joy Division. My top 10 bands change up all the time but those are always my top 3 bands though.

I've never heard of the band Joy Division but I'll look into it because chances are if you're a big Alice in Chains and Tool fan I would probably enjoy it. (*EDIT: Ahh I recognize them now from the Donnie Darko soundtrack)

Yeah the song "Love Will Tear Us Apart" is on the Donnie Darko soundtrack. It's a great song and their most well known but IMO it is FAR from their best. You stated you like "depressing" music then you will more then likely love Joy Division. Must of their stuff is pretty dark and gloomy. Their last proper album Closer is thought by many to be a kind of "suicide note" lyrics wise by Ian Curtis (lead singer.) Shortly before the album came out and they were to head out on their first US tour he hung himself.

They only had two proper albums (Unknown Pleasures and Closer...both two of my favorite albums ever in any genre) but they had lots of singles and b-sides that are on neither album.

I'd check out their stuff on the net and if you like them purchase the box set Heart and Soul. It has both of their full length albums and every single and b-side they put out plus live tracks and such.

lol I doubt it. I try not to knock bands people like because I know there are lots of bands I like that people hate (I like AFI...you hate them for example)...but I really, really, really can't stand Avenged Sevenfold...at all. Plus me being a big Pantera fan and them covering a Pantera song (especially Walk)...just makes it that much worse.

edit~ and I wasnt much of a fan either, they got on my nerves since I made that thread about them awhile ago. But they're fucking insane live, one of the best I've ever seen. My friend Dennis was with me and had never even heard of them before, he said the exact same thing. The whole crowd's like one giant pit, it's fun as hell.
And Dave, Coheed's bass player, said they're the nicest guys on the planet, but the worst musicians he'd ever heard. His exact words were "IIIIIII CAN PLAY SCAAAAAAALES" (In A7X solo sounding fashion)
