Report: Addai out two-to-four weeks
A sore hamstring could sideline Joseph Addai for the next month. How should fantasy owners react? Read more
You knew it was coming, right, Joseph Addai owners? As soon as your first-round pick left last Sunday's game with a "hamstring tweak," you knew the news wouldn't be good.
And, indeed, it's not. NFL Network's Adam Schefter is reporting that Addai could be sidelined two-to-four weeks with the injury. Colts' coach Tony Dungy has already said Dominic Rhodes will start against the Packers this Sunday and that Addai is "doubtful" to play.
About the only good news Addai owners can find in this is that the Colts haven't officially said anything about his availability for the next several games. Keep hope alive.
Even Schefter acknowledges that Addai will get a second opinion on his hamstring, and "it will probably turn out to be less time than more." Wow, thanks for the heads up, Adam...and that concisely worded sentence.
The bottom line is that the Colts won't want to risk further damage to Addai's hamstring by rushing him back. And with three of their next four games against some of the top teams in the AFC (at Tennessee, vs. New England and at Pittsburgh after this week's game at Green Bay), it would make sense for Addai to get at least one week off. However, it wouldn't be shocking to see him back in time for the big divisional game against the Titans in two weeks.
For now, roll with Rhodes. He should put up nice stats this week against a Green Bay defense allowing 153.3 yards rushing per game. Only consider trading Addai if you're desperate for live bodies. Remember -- the Colts have a nice stretch in Weeks 14-16 (the fantasy playoffs): vs. Cincinnati, vs. Detroit, at Jacksonville. You'll want Addai for those games.
