Ren Da Heat Monsta
Da Mudville King
Heat Rock Records
Mudville is a term I never Had Herd
Before, but once I listined to this cd
I learned that Mudville is another
name for Stockton California, where
Ren Da Heat Monsta is from. I could
have missed this cd cause I didn't
recognize his name, but when i saw
the name Doja Clik I grabbed it. Doja
Clik had a hot record out a while back;
I really liked that album. I guess Ren
is doin a solo now. His cd is very
solid This is an artist that has slipped
under the radar, maybe cause he's
from Stockton, which is about 100
miles from the Bay Area. He's got a
very unique style. His slang is outra-
geous. I don't want to compare him
to E-40' Cause Forty's like the king of
slang, but Ren can spit some crazy
shit. He's got his own slang and he's
very articulate with his words. He
breaks it down like a story, gives you
a clear picture of what he's talking
about. He's got some good features
on here with him-E-40, Too Short,
WC, Turf Talk- and he's keeping up
with the big dogs. you can tell E-40
had to step his game up on this track
because Ren is another slang master.
This is one of the hardest E-40 verses
I've herd in a while. The production
is similar to the Bay Area sound, but
it's different. it's got some Northern
California flavor, some Southern Cali-
fornia. The Valley is in the middle, so
they have their own different sound.
This is a record you can listen to
when you're chillin, you could listen
to it when you're ridin. I feel like Ren
Da Heat Monsta really put a lot of
care into this album. it's not some
shit he slapped together, but a high
quality piece of work. - Luis Osorio
