KANSAS CITY, Kan. - A local rap artist was one two people shot late Tuesday night at 10th and Greeley.
Kevin Bratton and Aaron Epps, both 20, were taken to a nearby hospital, where Bratton's family said that he was in very critical condition.
Epps' injuries were not life-threatening.
Neighbors heard multiple gunshots, and police found numerous shell casings from different guns.
Bratton, known as Young Kev, loved making music, but he had other plans for his life. He was engaged to be married, a young father and was heading to engineering school, according to his family.
Bratton, a good person, started hanging out with the wrong crowd, his mother told KCTV5 News.
"I'm tried of seeing all these youths senselessly gunned down," Nene Ramiriez said. "... I'm gonna fight for legislation about people getting these guns. It's ridiculous. You know, no one talks anymore. All anybody does is pick up a damn gun and shoot somebody."
Another person, a relative of one of Tuesday night's shooting victims, was shot during the previous week at the same location.
Bratton's production van was labeled Murder Dog in Kansas City. His family hoped he didn't become the next murder victim.
