what do yall think the main reason is that makes it hard for a aspiring rapper to come up in the NW????

i think for one:...HATING... errybodys a better rapper then the next man in our land... two: nobody sounds all that good anymore.... alot of people just sound to generic.. three: TOO MANY OF US.... erry nigga off the block wit about 2g's in there pocket goes and gets a triton and a mic.... WITH NO MUSICAL TALLENT... then send it to 95.5 for everybody in the portland and surrounding area to hear how bad it is...

i just think if you wanna do rap... be somewhat of a perfectionist... practice till you KNOW that you got hits commin.. not just music you wanna smoke to and show off to bitches....

JUS FAMILY keep doin your thang... yall maken strides towards the right direction... and hopefully can inspire a new wave for the nw...

i wanna hear yalls opinions too

i absolutely agree about too many people thinkin they are the shit when they are just shit. i have the sense to know that im just fuckin around with this rap shit, i'm not tryna put out demos and make a fake record label n shit n put out all my homies albums n shit. that is just pathetic. far as im concerned you always know if its jus fam its hot, other than that i dont trust none of these NW labels to have only top quality talent cuz they'd rather have a big roster than maintain a high quality level. plus a lot of people are just writing songs like they was bay area or some shit, there is no definit NW sound out there that people can say "hey that is some NW shit right there" like you can with west coast or dirty south.

exactly my point...lol.... it seem like erry nw artist sound like '95-'99 northern cali rapper..... how many e-40s and killa tays and 2pacs is this scene gonna create? well il try and surprize the town with my shit...im like 75% done, i just have to lay 3 more songs and get it mastered... then its off to the presses...

i think portland as a city is cursed...lol....just look at the blazers...and the weather...and errybody gettin killed...ect.ect..

well...stay on track wit it...if your on the siccness long enough to make friends....(or enemies....lol...)people will give your music a chance... but dont go spamming the boards wit links to ur sound click type site sayin..."HEATERS".. or "BEATZ FOR DAYZ" or sumthing... cause then ull prolly get thrown in the generic "too much effort, not enough tallent category"...

but like i said earlyer... STAY ON TRACK... GET UR STYLE MASTERED AND BLOW US AWAY!!!!

^exactly... i wasnt sayin not to rap... just dont do it for fad like alot of cats is doin...do it for real, and try to keep a certain degree of individuality in this...cause as you can see since like '94 there has been a skyrocket in the nw hip hop scene... not in quality but in quantity...and thats makin it so much harder for the people who can actually make good music...
because for 1: people arnt gonna wanna buy from someone they dont know... naturally... but if the people they hear are weak, then they wont give as much of a chance to others...
and for two: its a big hustle... so the lables out there are like niggas wit dope sacks... the more dope sacks, the harder it is to get a steady clientel (fan base).
but once theres a recognition for good music, it will snowball into a bigger fan base then the wack niggas will stay on there level while the good will elevate...

i just say... lets take it more serious and make good music, and every body has a different level of musical ability... some can do everything under the sun, while others can only write... or only has a good voice... or can only make beats... people should just try to find there niche...

^im being hypocritical??? wait till you hear the shit i got on my lp... i got ideas i cant let out...lol... naw but i strive for originality...

i wasnt talkin of the content of raps...(because theres not that much you can rap about anymore...and still b original) but if you create your own delivery style, and can talk about the same old shit and make it sound good... then thats what i can call original..

when u hear my music ull see i can back what i say and im not in any way being hypocritical...

even my old shit on my link is till up todate, and carries a sense of originality

the trend or whatever is its cool to be a rapper...everywhere you walk theres another fool here and there thats makin a record or somethin.
shit i started flowin when I was 12 years old on the fuckin tape recorder, and i listened to other peoples reactions and knew i had hella potential so i could do more than that and put my alot of shit into rappin.
over half these rappers go halfway to make their shit crack and they still think its tight.
how their name gets out beats the hell out of me though.

this topic is definetly interesting, we just dropped our first release and we went out to get our hustle on, 6 hours later, hitting up numberous spots, we sold 2 cds, and the biggest excuse we got was "naw man me and my cuzzo is doin that so i dont need to buy your cd" and various other excuses along the same line, its the wack shit, people in the northwest dont really support their local artists, i mean i could be wrong, but from being out their on the grind, its gonna be hard to convince me that i am.
