That's possible.....If the air in your house is ten degrees hotter than the system. It's a set up of three external fans pushing outside air into the system and circulating through the air vents. Very little air gets trapped in the system itself through this process.

my system is doing the same exact thing right now, it turns on but blank screen. I went out and bought new cables today and its still a blank screen.

microsoft will only except your xbox IF the warranty seal is not tampered with.. or else it voids the warranty. And also if youre not the first owner of it and the previous owner might of registered it, they might think you stole it. Other than that they will fix it for free. Takes about a week i heard for you to get it back.

1. Try the towel trick. It will get your machine to work for a while. Wrap the system up with 2 towels and let it play for like half an hour. It will overheat, and you will get flashing red lights. You then unplug the system, take the towels off and let it cool for half an hour. Then it should start right up.

2. Call Microsoft and tell them you have the red rings, they'll fix your shit for free.
I can only speak on my personal experience but mine hasnt had a problem since the towel and that was like 3 months ago, but it seems like such a shabby fix i wouldnt really recomend it
