This may be so, but dont you think you have a littel bit of bias going IN to a movie like this? We are all aware of your harsh critiquing of movies. To say that you have no predispositon on a movie like this is hard to believe.
Sure I have bias, but I also understand intent and creative license. I went and saw Wanted and enjoyed it. I enjoyed it as an action movie. If I would have judged it based on it’s loyalty to the source material, my hatred of Common, etc, I would have given it an F-. Instead it is currently in the top 3 movies I’ve seen this year.
My enjoyment of the Wanted comics is far greater than X-men. And my enjoyment of X-men was always greater than Iron Man. Yet, I think Iron Man was the best comic to movie adaptation yet made and enjoyed it as a movie more than Wanted or X-men.
If I ranked the movies it would look something like:
Action Movie
1. Wanted
2. Iron Man
3. X-men
Loyalty to the Comic:
1. Iron Man
2. X-men
3. Wanted
Overall enjoyment of the movie:
1. Iron Man
2. Wanted
5,000. X-men
And if you didnt like Wolverine going in as a character, what would possibly make you think you would like him in an X-Men movie or a movie specifically ABOUT him? Again, predisposition.
I never liked Wolverine as an individual character in the comics and especially the movie, but I liked the X-men comics and thought he fit well when considering the X-men as a whole. I enjoy the supporting characters around him and his origins story. Even though I don’t like the character of Wolverine I would go see this movie if I thought the supporting characters would be well represented (based off prior knowledge from the X-men movies they won’t be) or that the movie would be any good (again based off prior knowledge from the X-men movies it won’t be).
I don’t own a single Iron Man comic, yet went and saw a movie specifically ABOUT him and thoroughly enjoyed it both as a movie and a comic adaptation.
