i believe that we may have a civial war before a world war..
naw, americans are too ignorant, complacent and unwilling/unable to organize.

If Syria and Iran become involved, it could escalate into something ugly. Cause we gotta back Israel, unfortunately.

lol@civil war in america....no offence because i know this board is mostly american, but people are too fat and lazy there (and canada isnt much better). i cant really see many people getting off their couches and leaving the TV screens to go out into the streets and fight a war against each other...

to whoever said bush was taking the USA on a dictatorship path, and that it was going to take 50 years to recover from the bush regime, i agree..look at russia...they are still trying to recover from theior communist revolution 30 years ago...

edit: i also agree that if israel invades syria, it will get ugly. i read in the paper today that Iran fully backs Syria, and if anybody touches it, Iran will get involved....that will probably start a WW3 (if it has not started already) because the USA will get involved once Iran does....

The Russian Revoltion was around 89 years ago...1917. The Berlin Wall fell in 1989, and the U.S.S.R. collapsed in 1991.

Us has pledged to back Isreal no matter what. Iran will back Syria, Russia and China have pledged to back Iran. So if Syria is attacked by Isreal Iran will help Syria and that will be the excuse to invade Iran by the US which will get Russia and China involved. The Us has been itching to use low-yield "civilian safe" nuclear weapons (whatever that means) for a few years now with regards to Iran. Also Syria is one of the countries the Bush administration has wanted to invade since coming to power.

Ha! Beat me to it. Guess the Canadian educational system isn't much better than ours.

its been a few years since i was in school.....
In the years since leaving highschool I've been reeducating myself in regard to history and US/global politics and I find I have learned much more than was ever taught to me under any "official" curriculum. Of course this is by design as the original framers of the US public educational system planned it this way in order to decrese critial thinking and dissent by students. But if there's one thing you should study for personal enrichment, its history. You'll see empires and power hungry leaders have been the same throughout time. And you'll be able to spot the signs of where we're headed. As the famous quote goes, "Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it".

So if a world war does break out u think the draft will come back into plaY?
Check out the other thread I started with the link to the military draft bill which is going through the house currently. It won't take a world war to have the draft reinstated. If the US decides to start a war on another front there WILL be a draft.

If mankind can never find the initiative to learn from the mistakes of it's past, and economic gain serves as the governments only means to gaining power, and as long as there are ignorant masses that are promised a false sense of honor for serving greedy politicians who could care less about the lives of a few thousand soldiers, in that case, war is inevitable.

We're already in WWIII. At least so says Newt Gingrich.

Former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich says America is in World War III and President Bush should say so.
Gingrich said in an interview Saturday that Bush should call a joint session of Congress the first week of September and talk about global military conflicts in much starker terms than have been heard from the president.
