So I've been listening to all the shit that's goin' on over in the Middle East and Israel etc at the radio station I'm interning at....Most of the shit I hear is the conservative point of view....however, I read that Bush made a statement saying that when the passengers took the plane back (on 9/11) that it was the first counterstrike in WW3.

My question is, do you think the current situation will blow over, or will it be the next World War? I mean, more and more nations seem to be getting involved by the day....And Bush already said we're in WW3....What's everyone's take on this?

This is nothing new at all, the arab fighting in the ME is just slowed down the past 6-7 years. The only way it could be WWIII is if nukes are involved.

I realize this, however, the rest of the world seems to be getting involved now more so than before...And nukes ain't that far away, I don't think....

How many countries are at war right now? There's the US and Iraq, plus Israel and everyone else that just got included in their drama....N Korea is trippin, Russia and China are training their armies together......

And I have a question for you, why do nukes HAVE to be involved?

The real question is who is dumb enough to throw the first nuke. If Iran had them right now i think they would but thank god they dont.

Because they work. They invoke fear. They create mass destruction. It's the ultimate weapon in warfare. Its the ultimate, the supreme, the zenith.

^That's not what I meant.

What I meant was, why do nukes have to be a requirement for this to be WW3?

2-0, thanks for the link mang. I was wondering which countries were involved in the main conflict(s) though (US, Iraq, Israel, Iran, Lebenon, etc)...

Cheney and Rumsfield have stated that TGWOT will last 100 years and we will not see the end of it in our lifetime.

If the US is successfull in Middle Asia, the next target will be S. America.

TGWOT? The Great War on Terror?

No matter what any country does, there will always be groups that don't like what's going on....Whether they are extremists or terrorists it doesn't matter, all the same shit, they just use different words to evoke more emotion and fear in the American people...Which would strike fear more into the heart of the avg American, extremist or TERRORist? They've got some GREAT Public Relations people on this, I hope they burn.

I agree Sixxness - why should the involvement of nuclear weapons be a requirement of world war three? Nukes are more a mental weapon than a physical one, I don't think anyone will have a reason to pull their card.

I think it will blow over personally. When Bush leaves office, you can be pretty sure the next president will be more conservative and less blood-thirsty. I would like to believe at least that, when that time comes, the USA would attempt to seek peaceful solutions to the 'war on terror' - you can't just start a war against 'terror' and then hope to take out the middle east and Islam, it's a war that can't be won. I'm not saying that the US are specifically declaring war on islam, but their territories are the source of many of the extremists - just like if a gang entered your hood and killed a few of your neighbours, you'd be pissed and you'd fight back. If garnering support meant using words like 'holy war', then you'd do it. Better we start learning to live together than holding to this 'there can be only one' bull shit. This ain't Highlander.

From Wikipedia - World War Three is a term used to describe a hypothetical future conflict of World War II–scale or larger. Most usages of the term include the use of weapons of mass destruction such as nuclear weapons.

Unless there is a radical shift in US politics there most certainly won't be a cease-fire or about face with regards to TGWOT or the current foreign policy. If Kerry had won in '04 he wouldn't have gotten us out of Iran, Afganistan or ceased the phony "war on terror". An overwheming majority of the US congress supports the current direction this country is going and the curent policies set by the Bush administration. Clinton is the one who set a lot of the current policies in motion during his reign. To think that in '08 all will be set right by some majestic politician is extremely naive. Bush has done more to set this country on a path of dictatorship than any other president in history. It will probably take 50 years or more to recover from his actions and policies if we ever do. There has never been a single case in history of a state, once it starts to descend into despotism, that decides on its own to reverse itself. It usually will consume itself in the quest for power and it's not until decades or centuries after the fall of the empire that the people get another chance to set their country right.

We are at a crossroads right now. If we chose not speak up and to instead bury our collective heads in the sand we will look up in 10-15 years to be in a fascist dictarorship. Then when our kids ask us "why didn't you stop this" there will be no answer.

I dont know, but its pretty damn close to it. US, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Israel, The Palestinians , Iran, North Korea, Pakistan, India, Somalia. Many parties involved. And it could damn well escalate into something big.
