Not true at all...Iran's best players will be playing barring any injuries...daei, karimi, mahdavikia...ALL OF 'EM will be there...the one sport that Iranian politics cannot stop is soccer..they are soccer mad..

As for the judo champ, I've never heard of him before but I def. believe you. If for example, Israel made it to the World Cup and somehow got drawn into the same division as Iran, Iran would NOT play them and probably take a forfeit (3-0 automatic result)...pretty retarded
mahdavikia from hamburger sv he´s one of my favorite players. karimi he at bayern münchen, but most of the time just a substitute player. might change since ballack moves to chelsea.

yes could be..
but its a huge step to play the role ballack played the last years..
but hes a good player so it could work if he gives a 100 percent all time
he got some great skills, even some brasilian players are not a lot better

Karimi is really good, but even I don't think Karimi is good enough to take Ballack's role at Bayern, but I'd like to see him get a chance at least...you never know..Mahdavikia's back is completely healed so he will be ready Sunday for Mexico...

It SUCKS what happened to Cisse, I woulda liked to see him play at this WC...he got some cool ass hairstyles/beards...I say that Domenech should call up Giuly as his replacement, I dunno why he didnt pick him in the first place..Domenech is an idiot...

You guys hear about Ballack? Might not even be ready for the first game, his calf is injured...

Anyway, hoping Iran can do some big things, let's see..

Giuly said he wont come if Domenech call him... Seems like Anelka did the same thing a few weeks ago.
We'll go with Govou/Luyindula or an U21... Damn.

Also Domenech is an idiot by playing with no one one the right wing, Sagnol is always alone...

Oh damn it took me too long to see that the Siccness had a WC thread. Hell yeah. I was out at the last major tournament, Euro 2004, was at every damn Portugal match right through to the final, that was way too much of a party.

I'm heading over to Germany for a week or more of this one, can't front on Portugal, we got the coach who won it last time, and the most technically skilled team in Europe. Brazil is our peoples, we taught 'em haha!

Pretty ill that Siccness folks got a lotta rep in Group D, mayne it's all love on that one, but even so Portugal should do the biz on Mexico and Iran, and as for Angola, like Brazil they Portuguese folks too so that's just a fiesta there.

I watch a lot of football over here, travel and see a lot of games, and I got a decent stack on this tournament too because there are some genuinely good contenders beyond Brazil, and some nice bets too.

The group with Argentina, Holland and Ivory Coast is heavy as fuck, Ivory Coast is the strongest African team out there by far so that group could get messy. Double up on either Argentina or Holland going home early.

I was looking at Holland like they could win, they've got good young players, but they've had some injuries and one bitch of a group. Italy is always a solid pick, and I ain't going to lie but Portugal is an obvious dark horse too.

Other picks worth mentioning... Ukraine with Shevchenko could be a surprise, may even win their group over Spain and then run with it. But the one I'm really looking at right now for a late bet is France.

That's a real downlow bet right there, no one is saying anything about them anymore, but I look at their team and its quality, it has World Cup winners in it, their group is easy, its close to home and they want to make up for 2002.

Finally, gotta speak on my English people, I'm heading out there with a bunch of 'em and even I can sense something about to happen. I've been around these fools too much to know when it's real or not. It's real this time.

Normally they all know it's hope not belief, this time they really do have one of the strongest teams and a lot of things are falling into place for them. I got the equivalent of $200 on them to win it.

ps....... this is all obviously assuming Brazil don't switch it up - as the old saying goes, South American teams don't win on European soil. It's going to be a sick 31 days.

yeahhh i loved the euro 2004 - great tournament, lots of exciting games. to me portugal is among the favorites for the worldcup. teams like england or spain are always considered favorites but they haven't really won much in the past.
by the way, govou been called up for cisse.

Hmmm, I don't think Ukraine will win their group over Spain - Spain haven't lost in their last 22 matches. Shevchenko is a great forward (didn't he just sign with Chelsea for 30 million euro?), but he won't get much help out there with the assits

Mexico has a shot, their group is pretty weak so they should make it through with Portugal, Iran will struggle to get through

Croatia don't have much of a shot at winning it, their defense is rubbish. Spain may have only beaten them 2-1, but it looked like it might be a much wider margin for a lot of the game.

Not sure about Czech republic - I think the USA has more of a chance personally. Italy's in pretty bad form, but they have a pretty weak group too.

Ballack's not too hard to replace - he was absent in Germanys 7-0 win over Luxembourg the other week so they have enough talent without him.

Finally, Rooney is back from injury - he'll probably play the first game. England has a serious shot at winning this year - Gerrard and Lampard are in blistering form and with Rooney up the front, look out Brazil. Of course, Brazil are still the favorites, I hope my team (Australia) gets it over them though!!!

GO AUSSIES!!!!!
