Thank you for mentioning PSD! He's been near the top of my list for yeeears, but it seems he gets left out a lot in these type of discussions. People need to go back and listen to Game Costs and What It Is. Dude is golden.

What do you mean by that bro?
bro? When did this turn into an argument anyway? This is what I meant by that:

Who are some the more impressive "northern California rap artists" when it comes to being clever w/ their vocab?

Consider it my revision just for you. Didn't mean to work anybody up over this....lol.

^^^ lol, Why did you take the word "bro" offensively? Maybe it sounds more friendlier said outloud then typed lol. I was simply asking what you meant, b/c I didn't understand the question. Anyways....if by your question you meant who are some of the "slick-talkers" ? I would have to say...

Turf-Talk- his voice/delievery along with slick lines
E-40- no need to explain.
Mista F.A.B- nice wordplay, simple but creative lyrics
The Jacka (lightweight lyricist in the making..)
I still say Yukmouth....he's got some clever lines aside from the wordplay..
Mac Dre of course.. RIP
Mac Mall...even though no so much as of lately
Keak Da Sneak- no need to explain

^^^ So if 40 and Mac Dre are lyricists, what do you call artists such as Nas, Yuk, Rass Kass, Crooked-I, Jay-Z, Cormega, etc., ? Because 40 and Mac Dre are not in the same category.

"Clever with words" doesn't make you a lyricist. Punchlines, metaphores, multi-syllable rhyme-schemes, and subject matter; mix all these up, and you get a definition of a lyricist.
you summed it up right there. MD and 40 have a lot of charisma and it really comes through on their songs. but word for word i wouldn't classify them as lyricists.
