IN THE run up to Christmas, the Wii destroyed any competition from Sony's PS3.
According to TG Daily, the final numbers show that in terms of unit sales, the Wii was the unquestioned winner of the holiday shopping battle.
Apparently Nintendo's console is outselling the PS3 at a rate of two to one, which is a bit surprising for a machine that has a daft name and runs at a lower spec than the competition. However as more people got their sticky paws on the machine, word got around that it was better.
Forrester Research analyst Paul Jackson said that the Wii stole the high ground in terms of playability and entertainment value.
Sony, on the other hand, had product shortages, high prices and reviews that were not exactly complementary.

Thats what Sony gets for not having enough product available. I'm actually hoping to get a Wii, and don't even know if I'm going to splurge on that overpriced PS3.
I've played both, and the PS3 doesn't seem like it has anything to offer that I don't already have on my 360.
Mind you, both were eclipsed in market share by the Microsoft Xbox 360 which has almost a year in the market and shedloads more games. However it does look like the Wii will be the rival rather than Sony.
