yes it is but sadly thats the way things are in this country. i mean if you were to walk up to say Gov. Davis in the street do you think he would talk to you and carry a conversation with you, would he accept in invitation to lunch from you(99% he wouldn't).

now if colin powell or jesse jackson was to ask him to lunch do you think he would accept (of course), and this goes for most people in society not just polititians
u'r whole reponse is nonsence, "i mean" i stated what i told you,
and in return u told me the same shit, in different words..lol

but anyways, yes its sad and thats the way things are in this
country....so? just sit around and pick are noses? fuck nah
there others ways, we can't just let it be the
same as it is.

Furio....I know exactly what you mean dogg. Thats why Im likin school better now. The last history teacher I had, and my current one, are coo as fuck...they teach us the REAL. Last year was the first time I ever had a teacher tell us that the founding of our country was straight genocide.

Mcleanhatch, U should read more Latin American history, b/c U have it all wrong. The Aztecs and the other indigenous peoples of Latin America, were a great and powerful people. Don't forget who thought up the concept of the zero.

I do agree w/ U that we should not let the past rule us in the present. However it's good to know about the past, so we can understand where we are heading. It also helps us know that we come from a great people. My 4 cents. :classic:

The Europeans had much more advanced technology than the others. So when they enter a land to conquor, they will have a huge advantage. You got to realize the history of the world tho too. As in its all about the LAND YOU OWN. And the way to be the biggest and own the most resources and hope to find the most gold in your new lands, is to CONQUOR AND DESTROY! So everyone pretty much did it. Portugal was NUMBER 1 as far as slave trading.

As far as what we are taught, from the white mans view, they won, so what do you expect.
Actually The ancient aztecs, the egyptians and the Mayans had the most advanced Architechual Technology. Till this days scientist are still trying to figure how the mystery of how they build these great pyramids and temples. How they were able to roll tons of stone up many hills and down many valleys.
The Aztecs would trade their slaves/gold to Spanish conquistadors and the Europeans (sp?) for guns, etc. The Europeans and the Spanish invaded The mayans and teh Aztecs for gold. They knew they had lots of it.

id say the stronger, deeper, ruthless, or the extreme savagery flexes its muscles with MANIFEST DESTINY.....

if there is a certain ppl that has the strength, the odacity and the passion to commit themselves to be the ones to perform genocide then they'll do it, no matter they white, black, brown.... the spanish did it to many ppl, the HUTU tribes did it to the tutsi, the Americans did it to the native americans, the germans did it to the jews, the indonesians are doing it to some small tribe in indonesia the list goes on....... MANIFEST DESTINY...... there's always a specific reason for it, some may differ but there is always a dumb ass reason for it.....

1. what slaves, they themselves became the slaves

2. yes it was for the gold, but it was only the SPANISH not other europeans. the next closest europeans to come to Mexico were the French during reign of Napolean which was about 200 years after the Spanish arrived.

In the beginning the Spanish did not enslave them. That wasnt till later. But due to the aztecs/mayans greed they became enslaved.

Mcleanhatch, it's good that U read those books. However there is still more that needs to be learned. Education is a life long process. I will post some titles later (from my class at UCB). Its more history oriented, but I think U might enjoy them. :classic:

Mcleanhatch,

Here are the books I was talking about:

Morphology of the Folktale by V. Propp

The Spanish Frontier in N. America by David J. Weber

Drinking, Homicide, & Rebellion In Colonial Mexican Villages by William B. Taylor

Quetzalcoatl & Guadalupe the Formation of Mexican National Consciousness 1531-1813 by Jacques Lafaye

The Conquest of New Spain by Bernal Diaz

Ambivalent Conquests Maya & Spaniard in Yucatan 1517-1570 by Inga Clendinnen

The Limits of Racial Domination Plebein Society in Colonial Mexico City, 1660-1720 by R. Douglas Cope

Colonial Spanish America a Documentary History Edited by Kenneth Mills and by William B. Taylor

I also recommend The Labyrinth of Solitude by Octavio Paz, in spanish if U know how to read it. But the english version is good too.

Now if U have a hard time finding any of these text and really are interested in reading them I am willing to loan them to U. But only if U will read them, they can gather dust on my shelf just fine and don't need to do it at the home of another. Let me know. Good luck in school.
