I'll never forget something some "hip hoppers" said to me back in '97. At the time I was doing my Bay Area hip hop magazine and I covered all styles from out here. I was at a music convention and I approached the Mystik Journeymen with my magazine and was about to offer them an interview in the next issue. Before I could even offer the interview one of the guys looks at the cover and says "The Magazine Of Bay Area Hip Hop" (that was the sub-title of the mag). More like Magazine Of Bay Area Gangsta" because the issue had 11/5 on the cover. He didn't flip through the issue to see what was inside or anything. After that I took my mag back and walked away.

People with that hip hop holier than thou attitude make me sick.

To me theres a big difference between Hip Hop and Rap music.

Tha thang that pisses me off is the folks that are born in tha West but act like they liven in New York. I support any tight music but most hip hop to me is wack (shit most music nowadays is garbage). Tha hip hoppers out here don't support my shit by buying my cds so I don't support them. Its a mutual feelin.

rap is the music...

hip hop is the ARTFORM and CULTURE, which includes b-boyin', graffiti, dj'ing, and emceeing.... which is the base for rap music

if you notice, these 'rappers' and 'hip hoppers' that your mentioning are doing EXACTLY THE SAME THING... they're rhymin over a drum beat

ALL RAP is hip hop... whether the artist supports the culture in his/her music or not
