I saw the thread by Bellboy184 and White Devil said that police target rappers because they shoot people, that's asinine because you don't have to be a rapper or any other kind of public figure to shoot people, it's just because some rappers glorify what they do or have done before a legit career like rap, police target them because of their criminal past or present, like selling drugs or gang activity and police target rappers because they feel that rap contributes to society's problems when rappers discuss what they go or have been through, rappers are ordinary people but they become extraordinary when money and fame come in the picture. I never felt rap is responsible for America's problems because America's had problems before rap.

Actually, if they target rappers it's because they fit "the profile", not because of what is written in their songs or performed on stage. I would find it hard to believe that your average police officer would be able to identify a specific rapper out of a lineup based on his own recolection. When you take the populas of convicted (black) felons in prison and find a common characteristic amongst them (like the way they look, act, and dress) then you have created a "profile". From then on that profile is used to combat crime in the streets. This is how wrongfully convicted African American's wind up in prison, because they fit the profile. This profile is not just used by police, but by jury, judges, and deconstructive members of society. My guess is that a profile for a black man would be a "gangsta" looking male; baggy pants, afro or corn rows, oversized t-shirt, earings you could throw through a window, and shoes you can see your reflection in. And depending on your location, your skin may fit the profile. I don't know about white people though. I don't think there is a trend because white rich corporate figures can be just as dirty as poor white trash convicts. It's a dirty game yall. I also agree with Formaldehyde, hip-hop is the result; but, it certainly is not helping the cause.

This was my understanding of jail politics: White people join the Aryan Brotherhood. Mexicans = 13/14, Blacks = Blood, Crip, BGF, 415, Asians = Azn gangs, etc. From what I heard from people, you HAD to stay wit your race. That is one thing about incarceration I oppose. I think there should be seperate, racially mixed
pods for non-gang members. Of course people will say oh they just gonna go at it, but I think if you stuck with it, and you shipped out the people who were obviously a problem, that it would improve race relations between people. Because I think race relations between rich mexicans and rich white people don't matter. It's at the bottom where it starts, from the ground up.
Cause I thought that would be literally impossible, as in, what the fuck is dude doin? And I don't speak no Spanish, so I didn't see myself gettin in with the Mexicans.

In the wake of high-profile investigations into the slaying of Jam Master Jay, the joint FBI-NYPD raids on the offices of Murder Inc., and the recent arrests of 50 Cent and Fabolous on weapons charges, the hip-hop community is abuzz with talk of an elite "hip-hop squad" or "rap task force" whose duties include tailing rappers' vehicles and even monitoring their lyrics.
During a recent stint as a guest DJ on New York's Hot 97, 50 Cent tauntingly shouted out the "hip-hop cops" that he claims follow him everywhere. But does such a task force targeting rappers really exist?
No, insists the NYPD.
"There is no such thing," said Detective Walter Burns, a senior NYPD spokesperson. "We have no hip-hop task force, no hip-hop unit, no hip-hop patrol."
Police point out that when they do create task forces, like the Terrorism Task Force or the Hate Crimes Task Force, one of their purposes is to let the public know they're making an extra effort to stop crime. "If we did have a hip-hop task force," another NYPD spokesperson said, "we wouldn't deny it. We'd want to tell you that it exists."
But many artists aren't buying it.
"It's definitely a task force," Fat Joe said. "You go to hip-hop spots now and they ain't just your normal walking-the-beat cops. There's cops out there in undercover cars like they know something we don't know. Like bin Laden's in the club, B."

Herald reporters Nicole White and Evelyn McDonnell said that the NYPD had handed Miami police the dossier during a three-day “hip-hop training session” for law enforcement.
