^^umm, its not like people in rap came up with white t-shirts. manne, people started to bite me when i started to wear shorts in the summer....
^^umm, ok. i'm talking about trendiness/fads and the mainstream-hype Mtv and shitty bubblegum-manufactured rap artists push as being "cool", not orgins. Come on. I'm no fucking child. I know some wack ass rap group didn't come out with tees. I'm talking about how a lot of mainstream-freindly artists can take something that's been in and around the block unkown to suburbia; then turn it into a fad by the methods we've all come to know and love from the force fed shit that's shoveled down our throats from radio/tv comglomerates all day, everyday. Look at rap in general. I remember when mainstream hated rap music, and it was deemed as just an "inner-city fad" that would never last and look at it now. Media corporations and executives are doing to rap music what has been done to everything else that becomes trendy in this nation; it's pushed and pushed on us and squeezed and milked until every ounce of worth is sucked out of it. Anymore, searching for some quality hip-hop is like searching for a needle in a haystack becuase so much garbage is produced for the trend-fitting, sheep-like consumer. It's all supply and demand, and the demand is so high only becuase that's what is deemed "cool" through the media (for the moment). That's why you got all these little rich-thug-wannabees from Beverly Hills, or the respective suburbs of any major city, running around trying to act like some G's. I'm sure you already know all of this, being on the siccness; a website founded on underground rap music, a safe-haven from the mainstream. It's only going to get worse too.
I'm sorry. I'm ranting, but to readdress the white-tee shirt portion; I don't know what it's like around y'alls neighborhoods, but in mine there was a reason for wearing a
very long, white-tee. It meant you was working. Not that I'm trying to uphold the prestigious symbolism of a crack-dealer flag, but do you think little Johnny from suburban USA is going to know that when he tries to look like he's from the hood with his long white-tee on, bumping his new 50 shit cd. Nope.
I know I'm making a mountain out of a mole hill here because this song really hasn't reached that status, but shit like this is bigger than this song. It's the state of the rap game today. Sometimes I wish white America hated rap music again.
Trends = Shit.
