no peeking

[no it wouldn't get people moving in the club, but it has HELLA crossover appeal. It's heartfelt, everyone can relate (men especially), it's hip-hop enough for the BET audience and pop enough for the MTV audience.

I hate to make this comparison (obvious reasons), but in terms of it's appeal it reminds me of Bone's Tha Crossroads...

...and ya'll know how that track blew Bone the fuck up.

thoughts?]

I love the track...I think most Tech fans would agree...but I'm afraid the newer generation wouldn't understand it as much. They'd be like "This dude's a pussy" or something...and because the song itself has too much of a meaning...I mean, compare today's mainsteam (Souljah Boy, Flo Rida, T-Pain, etc...). Absolutely no meaning, message, or thought...it's all about club shit. People would hear this and be confused because they haven't ever heard quality music.

Of course I'd love the general population to prove me wrong, but I'm afraid that won't happen. Still, fucking amazing song nonetheless. It's on some personal shit for everyone of us on here.

Though it is an EXCELLENT song, it can't just come out and be a crossover. There has to be other songs out that can enable the crossover i.e. more REAL R&B songs (not that shit that Usher came out with recently) for there to be a crossover, it can't just happen over-night, especially not for an artist that has little to no mainstream radio or video play. It just wouldn't happen, as much as I would love it to.

The scene is all about "club" songs now, and Tech coming out of nowhere with "One Good Time" would lead all these "club" kids who are only into "gangster rap" and "in da club" music to believe he's a singer or a pussy, which he's not. That goes hand in hand with choosing whether to start out as a producer or an emcee, try both and people will get you confused. Take one or the other then work on the other later, but Tech just does not fit the template for a singer.

I don't know. I can see it catching on. To the non Tech listeners that I've played it to, the beat was enough to keep em interested. What's the point of a single though? Are people even going to request it enough for the radio people to even get exposed to it?

I think it would work as a video, but not the first one... make a good, funny video for The Waitress, then drop One Good Time

Why the fuck would anyone do a video after the album already hit stores. That's just ass backwards logic. It's too late now to do anything honestly.

Well, it's never too late but it'd be weird as fuck to see a video dropping like a month from now.

A lot of people do videos after albums drop...

And what's so bad about making a video anyways? A dope video regardless of promotional impact would be nice

Do you see commercials for Pepsi on TV? That shit dropped like, 50 years ago. But it's still in stores (like the CD). And it can still move product.

with first week sales like they are I don't think it's out of the question...

if I remember right Nappy Roots' first album dropped independently in like august of 02, started picking up steam on the radio with AwwNaw like 6 months later, THEN they got signed to a major and shot a video

correct

and if I remember right, didn't the same thing happen with the Black Eyed Peas? Back in like, 99 or 00, months after their album dropped they did a video for Karma, and it aided in their steady rise in popularity

Like I've said before, I just hope they don't pick Everybody Move, have it basically be Bout ta Bubble 2, and leave it at that... way too many other songs to pick from that would make great videos if done properly

I don't give a fuck what song is chosen as long as its w/e Tech wants and has a vision on how to do it. Like, if there's a direction, instead of picking a song and then do a video for the sake of doing a video and suck
