Whenever I go to the post office to mail something that requires postage in excess of the $0.41 stamp, there is always a bunch of old people lined up to hand the postman an envelope that already has a stamp on it. Then they get into these long-ass conversations with the postal employees. It always pisses me off when I have to go to the post office because I know I am going to be waiting a minimum of 15 minutes for all of the old people who apparently have nothing better to do.

Now don't get me wrong, I don't hate old people (except when they are driving). Maybe they are so bored at home that they go for the interaction because none of their kids even take the time to visit with them. So they go to the post office to get a little human conversation with the postal employees.

I work at a UPS store. Shit is extremely dead most of the day with the occasional rush of business people and old people. Most of my time is spent on the siccness when I'm at work.

I hate the old people who have nothing better to do than come to the store 10 minutes earlier than me so they can mail it off right when we open.

to answer your question seriously...I think they are just old fashioned. they are use to goin to the post office to mail stuff and wait in line and interact with the people that are providing service. They are old and need someone to talk to or just like to ramble on bullshit...i bet you when you old you are going to be like that or a grump.

why don't u use them express mail shit, where u can pay with a credit card, stick the postage on your package and dump it in the box and leave. don't they have that shit everywhere now? you aint gotta line up unless u got some questions or if you old and want to talk to people and make little kids wait inline an extra 15 min just to fuck with them.

Exactly.

Its the same with them old muthafuckas that still pay for their $9.56 purchase at the store with a CHECK... and then before they vacate their old ass from the checking stand, they gotta write the check down in the ledger and then procede to rebalance their account.

this is why its always an old person that wins
This customer that always comes in does it for a hobby. He says he'll win about $50 every now and than but he's basically just earning back the amount he spent from playing the lottery.
