Apparently to some,it does'nt help you hit a baseball.Does it help you field?Does it make your uniform look better? Why would it be used then?
For baseball I would say the pressure and competition leads to drug abuse. It makes the playing field even. It's the same in football and other sports that require a very high physical demand. Steroids gives athletes that edge. It helps an athlete gain more lean mass while lowering bodyfat, recover faster, produces crazy amounts of energy, makes the person more aware and awake or active mentally and physically. I'm not going to get into the negative effects, but they are very serious.
The truth is that professional athletes, and especially top professional athletes, currently use or have used some type of illegal supplement at one time or another, that's a fact. You have to remember that just 20-30 years ago, steroids were very legal. Athletes used them very openly.
Do baseball players need steriods? NO. The only reason I can see someone needing to use drugs would be a professional bodybuilder, they need them to go past their natural genetic ability. And beyond that, they are genetic freaks. But baseball? Football? Definitely not needed, but it is used, and those FEW that don't use them probably feel pressure, unless they are completely comfortable and confident in there physical shape, they will feel the pressure of using drugs.
The truth is again, these athletes don't need steroids. There are many supplements on the market that are perfectly healthy and can enhance ones physical and mental performance tremendously along with a solid diet. But, these people are ignorant and they are willing to pay the consequences of potentially serious strokes and heart attacks, putting aside acne, damaged livers, and so forth to make a good income.
