but the majority is just OUT FOR SELF.
And they should be. If you can't help yourself, you damn sure can't help anyone else.
cats trip off of sets & WHOS REAL too much......why cant music just be music?
Realistically the consumer doesn't give a fuck if you're a "real" gangsta or a studio one. To a consumer the rapper is there for
one reason, to provide entertainment. Period. The music business is an ENTERTAINMENT business. Period. Being a rapper under contract with <favorite record label here> is no different than being an actor under contract with MGM in Hollywood.
too many rappers in DAGO claim spacific sets.... thats not marketable.... its marketable to 1 hood, YOURS.
EXACTLY! Hopefully people will start figuring this out.
why not rep the city instead of the block? or rep the state instead of the city?
Repping a city or even a state is no different than repping your block. Do you think people in New York give a fuck about San Diego? No. People in Houston give a fuck about San Diego? No. Anyone anywhere outside of San Diego, give a fuck about San Diego? No.
The music industry is a business, bottom line. It is about creating products that are marketable to certain demographics. That's it man. If you look at it any other way, you're on the wrong page.
The bottom line is this... Being successful in the music industry has very very little to do with music and everything to do with being a smart & professional businessman. Truth be told, 99.9% of these cats who think they got it all figured out, they don't fall into that category and that's why they don't have a
real career in it.
If you're aspiring to be in the music business, the very first thing you need to do is humble yourself. Next, do yourself a favor and do what I said... Study the people who have achieved success and more importantly WHY it happened. The answer goes a lot deeper than 'they never gave up'. That's common sense and it's only the beginning.
