2 be honest the next to blow the Bay up is the FANS. When these new albums drop we have to go out and buy them (if theyre not garbage) and help promo it too. Thats the only way. Word of mouth cause the radio ant TV dont want the Bay in the game...this is my opinion
This is the fuckin truth. The fact of the matter is that hella people talk a good game about the bay blowin up but they don't buy shit. Case in point, last night on 60 minutes they saiud that 60-70% of the people that buys Jay-Z's music are suburban whites. WHy is that important, well, if they buy the music then the industry to cater to them. Its business. You can't expect people to play music you like, play videos you like, etc if you don't BUY shit. Niggas like mobb shit, but nodoy is BUYIN. If you haven't bought shit, then you really shouldn't be sayin shit on this topic. The industry doesn't respect or care about bootleggers, cd burners, downloaders, or internet chat people. They care about people whop'll spend some money.

IN my opinion its two albums so far that have been monsters. dont even hear people tlakin about it. Its always yay-whooin about they own shit. Most of that shit is weak. I fucked around and bought a couple albums I heard about on Sicness and most of them were WACK AS FUCK. The two albums that should be getting love are

1. Frisco Street Show - This is how we eat
2. Ice cold heat - PaperTrail

Got em both. Street Show is ridiculous. B-Legit, Quinn, Tay..its not about the names, the shit is onhit. Beats and lyrics are cool. Its just a cool ass album. But you don't hear too many people talk about it on here anymore. Not even dude who be hollerin up Quinn. Its more Quinn thanthe actual album. That album is tight as fuck. How canyou be a serious Bay Rap fan without that album. It is that good. Then you got Ice-COld Heat. That shit is nasty. I haven't heard of anybody on that album before except Nuttso, and that album shocked me. True Mobb music. Beats slumpin, lyrics hella cool. Now, tell me why this album isn't flyin off shelves. Maybe it is, but you wouldn't know it on this board. If those kind of quality albums are not gettin love but some of this bullshit is, then the baywill never blow up.
Somebody said somethin about R&B group blowin up. They probably have a better chance becasue bitches will buytheir music if its good.

Maybe we should have another threads
1. Who has actually bought shit.
2. Which albums are weak as fuck and shouldn't be bought

As far as the bay blowin up, r8r is right, the fans decide. Is anybody requesting things onthe radio. KPOO. Is anybody buyin shit or just talkin up their own album. Its cool to promote, its all to the good. But don't tell me its 5 blunts out of 5 blunts and then I go get it and its a 2 blunts out of 5.

Yeah, Universal picked him up....

But listen people, this topics almost irrelevant.
As soon as one of our own blows up in the mainstream,
muthafuckas around here are gonna start hating on him.
It's a very fucking sad reality....

I disagree on the part where it says that we here in the Yay don't buy shit. It contradicts with the fact that the Yay will always be a good place to sell music. WE BUY OUR OWN SHIT OR ANYTHING THAT'S TIGHT!!!!
If that wasn't the case then you wouldn't see 5 albums droppin every week. There is money to be made and artists are pumpin everybody's fix.....

Wow...do y'all actually think that if one or two people from the bay blew up, THE WHOLE BAY will blow up??? That isn't gonna happen. I'd like Beesh to blow up, he's got skill...but the sad reality is, everybody said 2 years ago that he was gonna blow up. Do y'all know how many cats are signed to Universal that don't make a dent in the game? Almost every video I see from cats that haven't made it, are signed to Universal either as a sub label or just signed to them period. The sad truth is, if you are signed to a major like Universal, they have to break BIG BREAD to blow your ass up...and they don't do that shit often unless they have A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF FAITH in what you're doing!! Not hating at all, but that is the reality of this here rap game!!

right, right. Glad you enjoyed the album. I have not heard a person dissappointed yet. In fact, everyone who hears it has high praise.

Yall need to cop it. Go to http://www.CDbaby.com/papertrail and you can hear some audio and info. Detrimental, Big Mel and Dj Doe all have solo albums coming out, but this compilation is supposed to bethe initial introduction to these arists. None of the material is reused.

I agree about the producers and beats. We have a producer (Sham) who makes all the beats. He is good and we are fortunate because that takes out a lot of expense and hassle right there. I know for a fact that he has probably the best prices around as for producers go. But I also know he often will use one of the thousands of beats he has stored. Guys pick. I have also seen people sit down with him and they figure out a style for a beat.

One thing I like this. This is withthe guys onthe label or people who trust him enough to let him do his thing, he'll have an MC rap to a beat that they pick. Then he takes the night and comes up with 2 or 3 more beats that go with that song. When the kid returns he'll have 3 versions of the song. Maybe he'll have slowed it down, sped it up, but there will be 3 diferent beats with the lyrics and the person can pick one. That shit is hella clean.

Support bomb ass Music from the bay.

These girls around the corner from me that I've known since I was 5 have the BEST CHANCE to blow up...but they're not rappers, they're R&B...but, it still counts IMO, since the topic doesn't specify rappers. If y'all haven't heard of em, they dropped an album in 1996 under the name PREMIER, now they go by HONEY LUV and they signed to FO' REEL ENTERTAINMENT (the company that brought you COUNTRY GRAMMAR), and they even worked with Dre on their new project. SHIT DROPS IN OCTOBER so we shall see where it takes them.

Oh, you'll have to look for a song by P.O.F featuring this talented trio. My group is in the process of working out some songs to do with the females.
i remember them, the youngest one look coo as fuck

Same people that blew the bay up in 2002 & 2003...ABSOLUTELY NOBODY!!
Sad but true. What ever happened to the Luniz and Hiero, they had some shit going on.

The way I see it (in fishermans terms), Bay Area artists can lure, but these mainstream fish that they trying to catch keep missing their bait. I think they gotta change their lures and rodding techniques if they wanna net these damn fish! 40 is obviously changing his bait, and slowly he gonna reel in a big one but not just yet!
