i just went to the myspace page....and the options for washington rapper of the year or whatever, are pretty fucking weak. no offense to any of the artists on there, but washington has A LOT better to offer, in my opinion. like neema for one. how many other indie artists around here sell 10K albums?

Sorry it still doesn't make sense to clam another country for our region. There are plenty of states that are on the border line with Canada and they don't claim them for Hip-Hip. But whatever. I'm not ageist it or for it, but it doesn't make sense.

Dude, I live like an hour from Vancouver, 30 minutes from Seattle, its northwest, who gives a f*ck about the border. Vancouver is crackin.
Yes Geographically it makes sense but Hip-Hop? That doesn't make it sense to me. Cuz other states that are at the border line with Canada don't claim it as far as Hip-Hop goes. If it's from Canada I consider it Canadian Hip-Hip not North West Hip-Hip.

i agree the washington state rapper of the year section is missing some cats...where is 151, certified, and yes, neema....come on now....how are nominees nominated....i am a little curious

Octavius is putting them together.. anyone can submit their recommendations is my understanding and bottom line is- his camp will make the final decision. In this type of "nomination" its gonna be on some 'you cant please everyone' but thats just part of the business .. much love to Octavius for putting this type of event together..

Ive never been to Canada (I've always wanted to go but felons cant go and well.. that kinda cuts my company in half.. lol..) so I'll put the question out there... do the rappers from Canada or the promoters from Canada reach out and pull Portland or Seattle artists in to be a part of what theyre doin'...?

We need to include Vancouver if we're gonna include Idaho. Who even thinks about Idaho when thinking about hip hop culture and rap music, c'mon now. Idaho rap? haha seriously? What do yall rap about? Klan meetings? Or is it a bunch of corny ass biters trying to sound like Bay Area gangsta shit. Trust me, gangsta rap isn't convincing out of Idaho. Let's be real, at least these Canadian rappers aren't trying to be thugs. Just my opinion, don't cry about it. Peace.

Canadian hip hop does not equal American Northwest Hip Hop. Sorry you guys are not convincing me. If I need a passport to do a show in your city, then your not part of my region as far as music goes.

NY and Detroit don't claim Toronto Hip Hop and they have dope acts there. Doesn't mean we can't network, but if someone blows up from Vancouver in the media its going to be considered a Canadian accomplishment not a Northwest accomplishment.

As far as music goes the streets is only talking about Washington and Oregon. I'm not informed on the Idaho scene at all so I can't call it. We never really have anyone from Idaho come through here.

Only cats from Idaho whose name was floating around a while ago was Mad Ro and that's cuz they were singed to a Seattle label. I know we come through Idaho a lot.

Maybe someone needs to put me on game on this Idaho shit that I don't know about.

Why would NY and Detroit claim Toronto? If you mean claiming the east coast Detroit doesn't even really count. Honestly when I'm talking about the northwest I don't really think about Vancouver, but really Vancouver is even closer to Seattle than Portland. I've been to Canada plenty of times and I never had a passport. I'm just saying cats on here act like Idaho should be counted but who wants to hear rap out of Idaho, honestly. Mad Ro is some of the worst garbage I've heard in my life, artists like that are only making weak ass places like Idaho look stupider than they already look.
