If I were you Id look at 2003/2004 Zx6r's. The kawasaki 636 is a awesome bike. It has 36 more cc's, USD forks, awesome brakes. The 2003/2004 placed I believe in the top 20 most innovative street bikes made.
Only reason I'm considering purchasing an R6 is because my boy's boy who is like a role model to him has one for sale. And he will only sell it to me. I know the condition its in and the history. If I can't cop that I ain't going to buy a used bike. But used is the most affordable.

I'll definitely take a look at the Zx6r tho.

What do you think of a CBR? and what year?

The CBR's are nice. I think 2003 and 2004 didnt have USD forks. If your fork seals blow out or need to be rebuilt most places charge extra to get them rebuilt if they arent USD. I dont like the undertail exhaust because if you try to ride someone back there it gets hot. Hondas are notorious for having hard seats, its like sitting on a plank of hood. So if you cant handle that your going to be dishing out money for a corbin or another brand of aftermarket seat.

To be quite honest all bikes are pretty much dead equal. Your not going to see that much of a performance difference if your not racing them. Yes, one brand may have a couple more horsepower or what not. I just think that its better to get the most updated bike you can. Thats why I say the zx6r. You get 36 extra cc's, usd forks, FI, big caliper brakes, and a awesome suspension.

I had an R6, and just recently sold my GSXR 750...

Honestly tho, I got to ride my boys CBR a few times...and I liked it better than either the R6 or Gixxer...felt much more comfortable, especially for street riding...and it didn't seem to have any kind of mechanical problems, compared to my R6...

If you don't mind a salvage, you can probably find one for a couple grand cheaper...just find one that has a straight frame you're good.

I started riding about 3-4 moths ago, I started with my boys Gsxr then worked my way up. I copped a R1, and damn that shit has hella heat. I wouldnt recommend hopping on a 750 unless you got good throttle control. At the moment i got 2 bikes, R1 and a R6 both red but im planning to let go of the R1 soon.

CBR's are hella comfortable as Morebass said, i might end up copping that bike later down the road.

You know...thats one of the reasons why I'm getting a Harley...

Those sports bikes made me do crazy things...plus...when your riding around with a bunch of folks...its really easy to get carried away and ride beyond your limits...especially with all of the power these bikes have...

I figure I'd be safer riding a heavy bike, thats built for cruising...

from what i heard, only owning a bike sucks after awhile. you gotta at least have bucket or something. dont let the bike be your sole transportation

Yeah for reals. I realized that shit for the past few weeks. I was thinking of making that my only transportation. Then I asked myself, "How will I go grocery shopping?"

I'm definitely going to check out all my options. I want to keep my payments under $300 for both the bike and car and for the entire loan.

it's quite possible. I did some calculations with a down payment.
