So I'm considering selling my Lex and paying off the loan and copping a 2003 R6, then copping another whip 6 months down the line.

So to those have ride bikes. How long did it take you to get comfortable? Any useful tips or information would be appreciated.

im in the same boat as you.. but from what ive been told.. an r6 is not worth it because youre gonna out grow it.. and something about having to get up to high rpm's to get around town. Id go with a suzuki gsxr 750 if i was you.. thats what im doing.

^^^^^750 is slightly big for me. R6 is perfect. My boy has one and I sat on it. It does the job. My other boy has a 750 and uh its not too pretty for him. He looks too small on it and he also wrecked his previous 750. Its to much for him to handle.

Yamaha R6 is the way to go. I love the way it looks esp the headlamps.

Anyone who tells you that you can outgrow a 600cc bike is a dumb ass. You have to be a straight pro rider to be able to ride a 600cc to its maximum potential. None the less even ride hard on public roads. At first when you get on a bike 40mph feels like 80mph. There is so much wind hitting your chest and its pretty intimidating. I would just ride around your neighborhood for a few weeks. Get used to the clutch, speed, leaning, emergency stops.

Now a days a 600CC bike with a good rider can go 10's in the quarter mile. Does everyone exactly know how fast that is? That is faster than cars that have 500 horsepower.

Ive been riding for about 6 years and have had almost every CC bike you can think of. A 600, 636, 750, 1000. Personally a 600cc is a lot more fun to ride. The liter bikes are no joke, they will put you on your ass if your not careful.

What year R6 are you going to get? The 2006/2007 R6 is a horrible street bike. It does not make any good power under 10k rpms. It however makes a nasty track bike.

i got a 07 r6 and love that shit.its not a shitty street bike, you just have to learn how to ride with a weak low end. when i cruise im cruising at 6-7k. a little loud but shit sounds great. anyways i really recommend a MSF course, im sure theres one in your area. and with that you dont gotta do the dmv riding course. it took about a week to get comfortable on it. good luck

2003 and I'm definitely taking a course and riding around the neighborhood before I really give it a go on the freeway and daily driving.

But first things first. I have to sell the whip!

The R6 is not a good street bike. Go to a zoom zoom track day and ask anyone there. It is a awesome track bike. It doesnt make any good power unless your over 10k rpms.

If I were you Id look at 2003/2004 Zx6r's. The kawasaki 636 is a awesome bike. It has 36 more cc's, USD forks, awesome brakes. The 2003/2004 placed I believe in the top 20 most innovative street bikes made.

What do you mean learn to ride with a weak low end? To make any power you need to be above 10k rpms. I dont know about you but I wouldnt want to cruise at 10k rpms all day. Yet alone have to drop it two gears to put the hammer down.

Hey man before you buy a 04 or 05 r6 check out a 03/04 kawasaki zx6r (the 636). You will NOT be disappointed in the bike. Im not sure the 04 & 05 r6's are even FI. I think they may be carbureted, as opposed to the 03/04 zx6r.
