The fact that it has a name (Hyphy Movement) says to me that this is a fad and won't last as long as most people would like it to. The "Hyphy Movement" is here to open the door, it won't be what the bay is known for in the coming years - there's too much diversity out here.

For it to last, mufuckas need to put out hit records using the formula (whatever the formula is).

What the hell makes a track Hyphy anyway? Is it the drums, those irritating synths, or just saying "scraper, scraper, go dumb, stupid on a yellow bus"?

I for one, believe that the hyphy movement wont last for very long. Every single song is go dumb this/get stupid that/yellow bus rider/scraper/thizz. its getting repetitive and played out. The beats are too simple, the market is too saturated, and I already think the movement is starting to die. The many spinoffs - get stewie/go smart etc. I think, are evidence of my argument. whats next? wheres the substance? I actually think its a step back for the bay. opinions??
I think you got it exactly right.

Look at it this way:

Crunk was very repetitive, more so than Hyphy and that shit is booming.
I dont listen to the radio but yall tell me: how much "crunk" shit you been hearin lately? I'm just guessin, but I dont think that shit is gettin played like it used to 3 or 4 years ago.

Bay shit is 90% of what i listen to.

I'm gonna ride it until the wheels fall off.
I listen to 100% Bay Shit. Nothin else. Ever. And I do not listen to the Hyphy/Go Stupid/Go Dumb/Yellow Bus at all except Mac Dre sumtimes.

And for me the wheels fell off when Mac Dre died. Too many biters now.

wat some people dont notice that there iz more to the hyphy movement den just goin dumb, der iz some slaps dat dont hav shit to do wit dat....for example Joog Or Not by Mistah FAB and Turf Talk, dat shit iz hyphy, but dont got shit to do wit goin dumb, its a bay track, gettin da joog....der iz alot of that type of shit comin out, its not all go dumb

but i do agree wit da fact dat der iz way too much go dumb shit....come on, i mean i put in go dumb on itunes and like 15 songs come up....dats horrible...but yea, i believe the bay will drop some diff type of hyphy stuff, and da world will love it

I think the Bay will follow the south in this way

Comes out with Hyphy (Crunk)
Then a new style emerges like that Mob Figaz, gangbangin shit (More clubbsih Lil Flip type stuff)
Then gets a whole new wave, which could be the Thizz records type of Hyphy or Bay "lyricists (Chopped and Screwed)

From there we get labels like Thizz and done Deal being brought to the forefront (Cash Money, No Limit)

You have to remember we wouldn't be in this position without Mac Dres death IMO, people didn't even look at the bay till we lost our founding father. I would give anything for Dre to be alive but don't say Hyphy died when he died, Mac Dres brand of Hyphy died because no one can ever be him, But Fabbys tryin and Hyphy is alive and kickin.

i think our radio and club dj's will be the death of the hyphy movement... radio oversaturates our ears with the same kind of music. there are a variety of artists in the bay:

r&b

backpack

mainstream

and many more......

the problem is that all the radio plays is hyphy music. and club dj's nowadays are so pussy that they are scared to play anything new. everyone keeps saying this is a golden age for the bay........bullshit!

i remember a time when bay artist had GOLD and PLATINUM plaques on the walls. name 1 hyphy artist who has sold 100,000 records...... NONE. you know who sells the most records in the bay...........HEIRO! they sell hundreds of thousands of records....WORLDWIDE!!!! when is the last time you heard any heiro artist on the radio, besides "93 til infinity" when they play flashback songs....lol

dont get me wrong, i dont hate the hyphy movement, its good 4 the bay. but without a variety or choice, its going to be overkill and the quality of music is going to drop!!!!
