I for one, believe that the hyphy movement wont last for very long. Every single song is go dumb this/get stupid that/yellow bus rider/scraper/thizz. its getting repetitive and played out. The beats are too simple, the market is too saturated, and I already think the movement is starting to die. The many spinoffs - get stewie/go smart etc. I think, are evidence of my argument. whats next? wheres the substance? I actually think its a step back for the bay. opinions??

A lot of people also said that the bay wouldn't go mainstreem...look at e40s video? Gettin play on mtv and bet
First of all, I'm really surprised and happy that this thread has stayed respectable so far. That's pretty rare these days whenever anyone questions the hyphy movement.

Now, for the sake of keeping a good discussion going... 40's had videos on those networks before. Why do you think that this time around will be any different? (not just you MaC A$$ ViC, but anyone who feels like responding)

i know where you comin from i feel ya with that every song pretty much all you hear is stupid, dumb or retarted, yeah i know you get tired of hearin that cuz i do at times, stupid, dumb or retarted, but this movement go with the life style, hyphy is not just the music but our way of life here in the bay, south got screw music that give me a f**kin headach but they got slow ridin to go wit it, that wat i think we might be slowin down here but it wil catch on else where, for everyone who cant dance gigin aint that hard unless you got no rythem at all, and ghost ride da whip with a brick ha ha i think the movement will last, like when crunk came out help open more door for other bay artist, hopeful like like jacka, san quinn who dont do the hyphy sound too much and get mainstream

Look at it this way:

Crunk was very repetitive, more so than Hyphy and that shit is booming.
Yeah but there was also a variety of crunk songs. Like Usher's "Yeah!", TLC-come get some, Nivea - okay! Crunk wasn't just hardcore gangbanging shit! Crunk beats are more universal than hyphy beats.

But real talk I hope this hyphy movement doesn't slow down. Personally, I think we need some real R&b artist out here to collaborate with rappers. And J. Nash doesn't count because dude is horrible.
