look the farthest that i have immigrated was from the hospital in merced to my home in delhi (about 15 miles). i am an AMERICAN of mexican decent but the important part is that i am an AMERICAN. i never ever said that i was from mexico so why would you assume this nefar559.
this is MY country, a country that both my grandfathers fought for in WWII, and 4 uncles in Vietnam, 2 cousins in Desert Storm, and four cousins in the military right now

only my grandfather (fathers side) came here when he was 5 years old and he too fought in WWII. the rest of my family was born here.
and about ohter mexicans who come here. i feel that when they decide to leave their country to come to ours they should become americans first mexicans second.

the point is, say u'r in mexico at the time u'r relative is about
to leave for the US. You'r a mexican (living in mexico) with the same patriotic feelings you have now. what do u say to your relative?

whos to say what child poverty is. i refuse to accept those numbers. i know several families that both parents are unemployed but recieving welfare dont have to pay rent, yet their kids got all name brand clothes, $100 shoes, x-boxes and PSII or game cubes and games (how much are those $50+ each?). to me thats not child poverty.
when you have children whos families have a hard time surviving only having the essentials, thats poverty. and when you reach that point in tis country there are many agencies that are willing to step up and help you out.
you also have to take into account child poverty in the USA is nothing to child poverty in other nations (ex. Mexico). im sure alote of the poor children in any other country would love to switch places with the ones here if given the chance
so if by child poverty you mean. kids who have expensive namebrand clothes but on welfare. then i disagree
