how can you agree with this statement? are you not a mexican living in the US? a mexican who immigranted from mexico
look the farthest that i have immigrated was from the hospital in merced to my home in delhi (about 15 miles). i am an AMERICAN of mexican decent but the important part is that i am an AMERICAN. i never ever said that i was from mexico so why would you assume this nefar559.

this is MY country, a country that both my grandfathers fought for in WWII, and 4 uncles in Vietnam, 2 cousins in Desert Storm, and four cousins in the military right now

hmmm read somewhere that you were mexican, as in an actually
person who was born in mexico, and then came here to the states.

but regards less of that, how can u agree with that statement?
what do u think about the mexicans who come here? leave
there country behind? like u'r past relatives.

only my grandfather (fathers side) came here when he was 5 years old and he too fought in WWII. the rest of my family was born here.

and about ohter mexicans who come here. i feel that when they decide to leave their country to come to ours they should become americans first mexicans second.

greatest country? i wouldn't go as far as saying that, we still need
major improvements.

anyways u'r missing the point.
the point is, say u'r in mexico at the time u'r relative is about
to leave for the US. You'r a mexican (living in mexico) with the same patriotic feelings you have now. what do u say to your relative?

clearly he is not a patriot to his own country.

before the Fox adiminstration, the govn't of mex, didn't want
anyhting to do with immigrants who fled mexico, they were
look down upon.
It wasn't till Fox that the govern't started proclaiming them as heros.

u said the greatest country in the world is US, and yet....
"why does it have the highest rate of child poverty in western democracies, Nader asked, pointing out that the national level stands at 20%, rising to 30% in the district of Columbia. Why has the U.S. economy doubled but six million families are unable to pay their rent?"

whos to say what child poverty is. i refuse to accept those numbers. i know several families that both parents are unemployed but recieving welfare dont have to pay rent, yet their kids got all name brand clothes, $100 shoes, x-boxes and PSII or game cubes and games (how much are those $50+ each?). to me thats not child poverty.

when you have children whos families have a hard time surviving only having the essentials, thats poverty. and when you reach that point in tis country there are many agencies that are willing to step up and help you out.

you also have to take into account child poverty in the USA is nothing to child poverty in other nations (ex. Mexico). im sure alote of the poor children in any other country would love to switch places with the ones here if given the chance

so if by child poverty you mean. kids who have expensive namebrand clothes but on welfare. then i disagree

but is by child poverty you mean homeless people who are getting by with the basics barely surviving then yes that is child poverty. but for all those people there are several programs to help them out.

....u'r sources mean nothing to me, so why u even bother to reply?

check this out
"The number of people living in poverty rose by 1.3 million in 2001, to 32.9 million."
source: http://www.cbpp.org/9-24-02pov.htm

this increase was on the nytimes and other newspapers when it was released a couple months back.
the defination of proverty? since all this was census data, this is
how the US census defines it: http://www.census.gov/hhes/poverty/povdef.html

this was all Census data.

lets not forget about the people without healthcare, and those
who get there education at poor schools.

greatest country?....we still need to improve it.

alote of those numbers are there because of lazy people who would rather be on welfare then to go out and get a job. and dont tell me that there are no jobs. because if you are starving and need money will take any job you can get yet some would rather sit down on their fat *** and get governemt help. why are there thousands of illegals here with jobs? because people here refuse to work.

and as for education at poor school. thats no excuse. any1 can get into college if you have some smarts especially if you are a minority. i know a several "mexicans" from mexico who cant speak english fluently get into universities with way less requirements than i needed to get in. also they got their way paid through federal goverment and other grants.

if you go back in this post from the beginning to now you will see that you keep engaging me into responding you will also see that at first i was ignoring you since "my opinions and sources mean nothing to you". but eventually i had to respond since you wouldnt leave it alone and so we have a back and forth discussion until you hear something you dont want to hear or cant respond to at which point you say^^^"u'r sources mean nothing to me, so why u even bother to reply".

tell me if some1 quotes you and asks you something you wont respond. well thats what you keep doing so if you really mean what you say up there ^^^ why do u keep initiating conversation?

also a lot of illegals work for less than minamun wage.
but for reals, i once saw an episode of 20/20 were these homeless people didnt want to work, becuase they were getting
fed at shelters for free. but that was a few. the majority
of homeless people have mental problems, and/or vets. (heath care?)

33million american lazy?...lol i don't buy that.

I hate it when these US citizens can't find work, and yet i see
immigrants especialy from mexico, working the ag fields.

yea a minority can get educated...but why is it that minority make
up a small percenage in colleges? and why they more likely to
drop out of HS, and collage? of poor schools how many actually
make it to collage? at my school that was low than compare to
say some rich neighborhood.

but 32million US citzens in proverty, period!
