@H
well, what you are describing is basic training. That only last 9 to 12 weeks depending on the branch of service.
I have been in for 2 and a half years. I do not wake up at 4am and begin jogging, yelling my "platoon", or division name. It gets more laid back once you get to your command, at least in the Navy. I awake at around 630, 645am. I brush my teeth, shave and dress real quick. Work starts at 7am. I am on a ship, but that doesn't mean we are always out to sea. Work is usually nothing big. And given that I am an electronics technician I usually just do the required maintenance checks to indicate the equipment is operational. My recruiter wasn't the big "gung-ho" type who showed me pics of guns and shit. He knew most people aren't like that. Now imagine this, I had long hair to the middle of my back at this time. H, I believe you have seen my pic since you have visited my BP page. So, just imagine that shit...hahaha...
anyway, I really wasn't about to just join the military. But, I figured what the hell, maybe I will benefit from it later. Then while I was in basic training the USS Cole got attacked. On the morning of sept. 11, 2001 I was going through "C" school. I saw the second plane hit the building live as it happened.
Yea, I really thought the haircuts that I saw military with were stupid. But, the Navy isn't as big on it as, lets say, the marines. According to Naval standards the top of your hair can be up to 4 inches long. As long as your hair isn't touching your ears on the sides, its cool.
Do not lament for the american pow's nor for the Iraqi's. War always equals death. No big surprise here. Even in the deaths of innocence, unfortunately. But, they live on, just not how we once thought...
