Actually cuba would have posed a major threat to the U.S. had the soviets finished their work in cuba, but kennedy ordered the blockade which stopped all missile constructing activity in cuba.....we were very close to a nuclear war with russia during that time, and it was vital that we stop the soviets from completing their work in cuba. why? because we were afraid of what castro would do once he had the missiles.

actually you are wrong...why wasnt it a threat when US had its missles placed in turkey? it surely was for the Soviets... you are right about going to war, but it was only for the fact that US made a great deal of it, .... both countries didnt want war. i dont think Castro would have done anything stupid with those missles.

not to mention that former UN Inspector David Kay which is employed currently by the USA is going to make an announcement sometime near september, (an announcement i may add that the Bush Admin. wanted to be made public immediatly) about Bio weapons programs that are existant in Iraq NOW.

Former international weapons inspector David Kay, now seeking Iraqi weapons of mass destruction for the Pentagon, has privately reported successes that are planned to be revealed to the public in mid-September.

Kay has told his superiors he has found substantial evidence of biological weapons in Iraq, plus considerable missile development. He has been less successful in locating chemical weapons, and has not yet begun a substantial effort to locate progress toward nuclear arms.

Senior officials in the Bush administration believe Kay's weapons discoveries should have been revealed as they were made. However, a decision, approved by President Bush, was made to wait until more was discovered and then announce it--probably in September................
