well, maybe if they spiked every team they play this season's gatorade with mescaline, they might pull it off, but i wouldn't place any bets yet......

The team did start from scratch, many players are kids that's why they have been losing pretty bad. A lot of young faces on the field and it isn't until now that some of the young players are beginning to really develop.
I'm writing as a football fan, not a Niners fan. Step away from the bias and you'll get a better look at the overall situation.
The Raider team has some good players, but that's the problem, the team is not good overall. A team like the Patriots wins superbowls because they are well-rounded, not because they have great players. I'd say the Raiders can get a winning record this season on offense alone, because most of us know their offense isn't going to help much at all. It's the opposite for the Niners, the defense is going to have to keep them in the game because the offense is not going to be great or even good. The teams are about even on different fronts.
The QB controversy in SF actually reflected what you wrote. The Niners personnel realized that the team had to start from scratch. That's why they put 49.5 million into a rookie QB. Of course, this was going to mean losing seasons. Most of us already knew that. Rattay is okay, hard to say how long he'll hold up. Hopefully long enough for A. Smith to become a decent QB.

If the Eagles can come together, they should win against the Niners. The Niners are not completely out but the Eagles have a few play makers without a doubt. Owens was controlled throughout the whole game against the Falcons and if this is anything like it was when he was traded by the Niners, he's going to drop a lot of balls and force a trade. It'll be interesting if he'll put his plan on the line because he'll be playing against the Niners. McNabb took a good hit, didn't play well at all throughout the rest of the game. McNabb and Westbrook are what is going to save the team if anything throughout the season, you can't really count on Owens.
