Is it next year again? Or the year after the next? Last time i asked around people was telling me who won all that. Well thank you. So when is the next beat contest. I dont think i'll win, i just wanna see how far i can get. I am from the west but i dont make beats that everybody on this website likes so thats why i wont win. But whens the beat contest?

Some do..but their are alot of Bay area posters...and they are some hyphy listeners....either way i just do me....1st contest my first beats people said sounded like quick( NOT TO ME..) THEN i TRIED a lil something diff in 2nd round and people was clowning saying It sounded like i Played zelda before i made beat..then last contest....I guess it was too soft...Some liked it but RAjdawg said it sounded like an R@B beat....Now i want to avenge my pride that got killed..hahah

it sucks when people judge shit like that. Me personally, i just listen to the beat if its tight its tight. I dont care what people used to make it. U can use your hands and feet to make the beat with a violin hooked up to a mic or that beat making program on PS2. If its tight, its tight. Nowadays the feedback u get is too technical. "Aww, he used this, he used that, he sampled ,he took that snare from that one song they did back in 1967". Everybody knows that all these new hits on the radio are all simple beats and obviously didnt take much to make. Lil Jon, Neptunes, Nitti. Even Dr.Dre's beats are simple. He never changes his drums on his shit. It just sounds tight.

That's why a proper contest IMO should be held by 3 judges and they must be respected on the boards.

The judges preferably should be 3 respected producers on the boards. Who have history here. And possibly moderators/admins.

Users can still drop their input and their favorites in a battle, judges can take it into consideration, but final vote will be by the judges, how it should be. This will prevent people from gathering a bunch of pitty votes by their friends.

Peace.

thats a good idea. It should be judges from different areas as well. 1 from the west, eastcoast, south, the midwest is pretty much the south. Music wise. Probably need more than 3 judges though. Thats just me though.

I wasn't here for the 1st beat contest, but are the beats broken down into categories? There's just too many different types of styles, so it's hard to truely judge them because everyone has different tastes. Just as 50Cal was saying, sounds like he got dicked out because I personally do like his style of beats. There just needs to be different categories for the different styles, such as; G-Funk, Mobb, Hyphy, Crunk, Snap, Underground,...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Hip_hop_genres

Or do regionals Beat contests, then the winners of each region square off and make a final beat each. Like a playoff bracket.

I think the beat contest should be themed. To see who can be the most vversatile. Say one week everyone does a Hyphy beat 2nd week Mobb beat
3rd R&B 4th most original beat...etc
If it ever pops off put me down.

Another idea, if you've seen stinje's thread in the BART forum, we could create a beat to a piece of art, weather it be a picture of a piece of film. I think to score or soundtrack a piece of film would be cool contest idea.

I guess the art idea is pretty good. I'll just find a pic with someone lying dead on the ground with bullet wounds & make a gangster beat to it. lol

j/k

I dont know how the contest was ran the last time but i'm guessing to add to the variety of different regional beat it should also be set up like a tournament as well. Have rounds and shit. I think posting one beat and having dudes vote for their favorite one out of 20-30 people would be gay.

Well obviously. That's not how it would be, and that's not how anyone said it would be dude.

It does go by rounds, every "battle" goes by rounds, and as far as I can remember, the beat makers, are actually not exposed to public, so you don't know who's beat is whos unless you know the person and he tells you which is his through PM or something, other than that you were to vote for Beat 1 or Beat 2.

It worked out pretty good as far as I can remember.
