Mexico is technically close to El Salvador, but next time you run into a Mexican ( a real Mexican, enter "PAISA", if it suits you ), ask him if he's from El Salvador. You'll get gutted for that here, my friend.
It's a different...life. People get upset about people (like me) not wanting to be labeled as a ''latino'' or ''hispanic''...and it's because of this. I'm not a Brazilian. I'm not Cuban. Definately not Puerto Rican. So, no...I'm not "LATINO", meaning the ''same as'' them.
But, yeah...El Salvador does NOT automatically = Mexican.

Same goes for people from elsewhere...if you're Cuban, you don't want some dude calling you a Mexican. I can go into detail, but it's not worth it. Just chalk it up to being proud of your heritage/nationality.

I know this Peurto Rican girl who gets really upset when people call her mexican. Its kind of offensive how offended she is to be called mexican. I'm like damn, you act like being a mexican is the worse thing that could ever happen to you.
