Bomb First=Just because quik is a legend dosent mean hes still makin tight shit.Bigg saccs and j-steez arent near quik u say, well its all a matter of opinion, and what music u like. If u like west coast artists makin east coast soundin beats , thats your choice.
I have the first album, its cool,The thing is the west is famous for a sound but as far as west coast beats and east they all originated from sampling( I aint tryin to school ya its for the dont knows) there are alot of songs that dre did that are samples, but to the masses who aint crate diggin its new in there ears ( i aint talkin the obvious zapp, or popular motown) so I feel sampling is an important part of hip hop/rap. you wanna know who else makes tight beats its chill from c.m.w. he done came up over the last few years

....east coast beats? the fuck?

....anything quik makes is a west coast beat, period...check your simplicity at the door...just because he aint regurgitating p'funk and roger with a whiny keyboard over it, doesnt make him east coast sounding...

...so what...He quik sounds like tribe?

...de la?...nas?...brand nubians?...diamond d?

...WHO?

...and Quik helped Sugar...not the other way around...Quik's beats made Sugar, you will soon find out when you here him over somebody's else's beats...he will never have the small following that he once had with Quik behind the boards...chemistry is hard to find...

This is only partly true considering that Saccs made Quik look damn amateurish on that New Testament. Saccs did a far better job of putting together the beats that would best make Suga Free shine. Besides, Suga Free has proven that he can hold his own on any beat, regardless of who's making them. He's not bound to any *one* producer.

Free is a damn good talent and it'd be foolish of you to criticize his ability in your attempt to sing the praises of Quik.

...Really?

...howz 'bout if I told you that Suga was in the Break Bread studio in San Diego and it was revealed that he has a ghost writer? Nigga was in Dago with an artist by the name of Gelo..."freestyling" in the booth (actually the nigga was spitting shit he already had) with some monkey looking cat with him. Monkey dude says he's writing the majority of Suga's shit and my boy Gelo decides to just kick it and not get down with dude. This is also when it came out that Suga's on meth, hence him kickin it in the Big SD, meth capital of the world...

...it may sound like I'm swinging from Quiks shit, and he is definitely one of my favorite producers...but I dont agree that Suga really helped his career just like you believe Suga can sound sick on other's beats...

EVERYBODY PLEASE, DONT TRIP! Im just saying suga free can still be the same suga free, maybe even better, with or without quiks beats. No, he will not have the promotion he had when he was with quik. Probably will have less people bumpin it to because of quiks absence.BUT IF YOU ARE A SUGA FREE FAN, and not just listening to it for the quik beats, then this album should be just as tight as the last two.
SoBerious= Look man, im not hating on quik. I own most of his albums and watch the visualism dvd like once every month. The man is an incredible talent no doubt about it.I know he could run circles around most of these producers, its just , me personally , i dont care for his recent efforts.I know if he wanted to, he could make those sick ass west coast funk type beats im talkin about. Hes done it before and he damn sure can do it again. But if youre like me and want those "west coast sound" productions, j-steez and bigg saccs got them.Im willing to tell you quik is a better overall producer than the other two, its just they have what im lookin for and what suga sounds better over. And the thing about bein in dago with a ghost writer could very well be true, im not gonna deny it.I know nothing about it so im not gonna comment on that topic.
P.S: Soberious= this might be a stupid question but, could that be the gelo that was down with mr lil one?
P.P.S:Forums are to give answers and ask questions and give opinions, are they not?Peace

I would have no problem admitting that Suga Free is not quite as talented as I thought, provided this ghost writer claim turns out to be true. This is certainly the first I've ever heard of it and I'd need more than just your word. I don't think you'd have a reason to lie but without any facts, this is how rumours get started.

About how long ago was this? Gelo hasn't dropped anything in awhile.

...it may sound like I'm swinging from Quiks shit, and he is definitely one of my favorite producers...but I dont agree that Suga really helped his career just like you believe Suga can sound sick on other's beats...
Actually, I never said that Suga Free helped Quik's career. Suga Free was never in a position to help Quik. It's Quik's status that opened doors and gave Free opportunities that he might not have gotton otherwise. But at this point Free has appeared on enough beats, that weren't produced by Quik, to indicate that he doesn't *need* Quik from atleast a musical perspective. His promotion just won't be as strong.

No way! Man shit Quick is in my top 5 artists of all time. Dude is just phenominal. Butttt, shit like that " I Would Die For You " and " Get Loose ", that style fits Suga Free like a tailored suit.

He sure can be when he wants to. There are many tracks that he comes funky as fuck with, but on his last album, how many were really "west" sounding? Take away the few tracks he did for suga frees last album and whens the last time he released some smooth ass shit. Its been a while my homie.
