Of all this debating on this issue or that issue. This belief that belief. At the end of the day what is gained. What is lost? If you eventually persuade someone to see things your way...do you feel a sense of accomplishment?

Some people have communicating skills some don't, some issues can have civil conversations some can't. Some people have a life outside the internet , some people this is probably the only way people will interact with them.(ThaG's nerdy ass).

I think the mission of science is not only to explain the world but also to teach those who are not scientists the truths science has found. Right now lots of people reject scientific findings if they contradict their beliefs. This is a problem because modern society will become more and more dependent on science and science will have to play a significant role in decision making on crucial about the future of the world issues (global warming, stem cell research, etc.). If decision making depends on the opinion of a typically science-illiterate general public, this may cause serious problems.

The conclusion is that our mission as scientists is not only to advance science but to educate the general public about science and the real world around us. This is going to be a tough battle because people are not at all willing to listen.

I don't see my time spent trying to educate people here as wasted, it is a very good training in arguing with stubborn people who refuse to listen. I will probably never persuade them but is is very useful for me to understand their way if thinking and why they don't want to use logic and reason in their life.

maybe learning how to communicate with people would help. Instead of saying those people need to be wiped off the face of the earth. Your listening audience will not seek any further info from someone with those views.

You shoulda stopped right here becuase this is EXACTLY the question he is asking. This is YOUR OPINION, not one who believes in theories and religion belief systems.

The point is, the argument of how we got here and when, is POINTLESS. We are ALL ruled by what WE believe is true. Why do you think the biggest argument in the WORLD is Science vs. Religion...and guess what, it HASNT been resolved AND it NEVER, EVER wil...

Can we just put the shit to rest already? All I see in here lastely is the religius folks vs. the science folks and it all boils down to the SAME shit. Then, when both sides FINALLY get to the breaking point where you realize the opinion of one another is NEVER going to change, yall resort to name calling....how mature!

Some people believe in evolution...others believe in a devine creation....can we fuckin move on now, please?

I think the name should be changed to the RDF(religion debate forum) or PDF. (political) you may have to run that one by Adobe...lol The GOM doesn't fit. I never see anyone discussing mathematics. the next great invention. I never see circuit board schematics...home made gadgets. or discuss NEW ideas about whatever. It doesn't have to have such a serious tone in here 24/7
