Whats the point in voting?

i'm real sad to see the apathy on this thread. we all hate the government as it stands, so even if kerry isn't our guy, we agree we don't want 4 more years of bush, but you all say your vote doesn't count--i'm not telling you to party-up but republicans have more unity in the u.s. right now then democrats. I hope to see raza unida orf the green party be strong enough to take over some day but it isn't this year.
I was so priveleged to turn 18 in october of '92 in time to vote. it was a year we knew we had to get rid of Bush.. i went and registered voters in downtown watsonville.. in the hood, i rode my bike around with a clinton-gore sticker.. i plastered walls with "more trees, less Bushes' and you know what??? we got chickenhawk senior out of there.. If your bitching about the government, but aren't doing anything for change, I can't respect you. This is what our country is about-corrupt or no, we have privilege- I will not let the little chickenhawk take my privilege from me

off topic but I need some help.
Im pretty sure it was miggidy who told me and maybe even heresy mentioned it a while back, but where can I find some info on the federal reserve? More specifically, who prints our money, when we lost that privilege to make our own money, and who is it that the US owes its debt to.
I was bout to get in an argument w/my english teacher over here at delta when he told me that the US prints our own money, but I need to gather some facts before I make him look stupid. Plus I want to know for myself. I need some direction on where to look. And dont say look up Federal Reserve, because its a bunch a shit that im not looking for. I need above specifics. Any help is appreciated.
