this is a conversation that is held in my house a lot...

There's similarities between the two, but big differences as well. Most aren't extremley noticeable to many... (plus there's TONS of different types of Christianity, besides Baptist....but that's a whole other thread lol)

A few big differences between Catholics and Christians are:

1) Catholics believe in the praying the the Virgin Mary, they believe that she is extremley important to their religion, because she gave birth to Jesus...Christians do not pray to her. And tend to believe that although she is important, she's not to be prayed too.

2) Christians believe that any and all of those whom are not "saved" are NOT going to heaven. When you're saved, this means all of your sins are washed away, and from that point on, you are to live your life as one of God/Jesus.....(no more sinning allowed basicly)

Catholics have confession, where you can go throughout your lifetime and confess your sins to a priest, and you get forgiven.

3) Christians don't have celibate Priests, they have Reverends, Preachers, etc...and they are allowed to get married.

4) Christians aren't allowed to cuss....like, EVER....and Catholics do more often then not (well everyone I know does anyway)...whether or not they're supposed to...I dun0 ;x

I didn't generalize all Christians at all, I was speaking on the specific CHRISTIAN religion, in its own... I wasn't speaking on all different types of Christians in a whole. If you feel that what I said was false, that's your opinion, but I have just reason to believe what I put out was true word, for the simple fact that I've been with a former Christian for over 8 years...

And since you happen to assume that my answer was wrong, and wastes 2 posts telling me so, I sure hope that you have the "right" answer for the question above....or your response has been pointless....

Catholics & Baptists?
Catholics have the Deuterocanonical Books included in the bible.
These books and extra chapters were found in Greek bibles.
The same scripture used by Jesus's disciples....

However the Protestants threw them out the bible, questioning their authenticity
(During the church reformation led by Martin Luther)....
Baptists are a denomination under the Protestant church.
Protestants and Catholics are basically the same thing, with the exception that Catholics pray to saints.
Which is against what the bible preaches.
Other than that, both Christian denominations are the same....
Catholics have the Pope, which is the backbone of Catholism.
Protestants do not believe in the need for such a "backbone".

They're both hypocrites though....
Not only did they fail in settling their differences, but they went to war over their differences.
Which wasn't a big deal, but they disobeyed God and declared war on each other. A clear violation of what Jesus taught them, to never divide themselves....

there r no passages that say anywhere that you cannt reach god through a saint
if you say there is then can you tell me what passage
Isn't idol worship one of the things we ain't supposed to do?
Isn't it so that Jesus claimed all his miracles were due to the power given to him by God?
He never claimed that he was acting on his own, but only following God's will. He always asked people to thank GOD when he performed miracles. He never took credit for it.

Knowing that, why should people pray to Saints????
Their miracles were only acts of God himself.
You are to pray to God and not them, they were only mediums for God's power.

Read the bible for yourself bro, the truth will reveal itself to you.
Just to let you know, I come from a Catholic family....

did i say ant thing about worship??????????????
N-O

just cuz ur mommy's catholic don mean shit

i said=you can reach god through a saint

by prayin (NOT WORSHIP) to a saint such as mary they can help to lead yoyu in the direction of god

your goin way off track 2 try 2 prove ur point

FUCK MIRACLES that aint got shit to do with nothing
the saints in the book of saints n stuf like that are merely people who lived their life in such a way that the church believes that they r deffinately in heaven

A SAINT IS ANY PERSON IN HEAVEN

PRAYIN 2 A SAINT IS JUST A WAY TO FIND GOD WHEN HES NOT THERE
they r alot closer to god so they can help you find-em

Didn't Jesus say God is always there?

What is a saint?
Isn't a saint one who lives out the example of Jesus and makes it to heaven in result of that?
Everyone who makes it to heaven is a Saint, even you.
So why should I pray to you????

Prayer is a result of worship.
Why should I worship a saint?

no i aint i heaven u foo

but yes i believe that all people in heaven r saints

the saints that you see in books n shit r ones that are famous 4 doin some miracles or sumthin else
im pretty sure the catholic church has a list of people that they believ r definately saints but it takes a long time after u die to get on it n it doesnt include all saints either just ones that they think r for sure saints
