nah i'm even going buy what yuk say i've read somewhere that his albums sell more than 40k, it was like an article or review or something! & it don't suprise me cuz the dude has hella fans everywhere plus he's also from a platinum plus group! so selling 100, 000, 200,000 isn't suprising! to me that's already low for yuk he should be doing more! but 40k is definitely to me suprisingly low! especially from an established artist like yuk.

you also have to factor in "Geography" before just throwing out a number....some areas have a larger audience for rap music so the artist in that area will consider a larger amount of sales to be a success compared to places that dont have a large rap market.
for example: im pretty sure if you ask that question to an artist in Hawaii and to an artist in Atlanta Georgia, the artist from atlanta will probably have a larger number because his area has a larger rap market

PressPlay: I think you are terribly misinformed. I dont beleive any artist, indi or major gets $10.00 a unit. That is about what the wholesaler sells the product to retail for and then retail has the largest mark up of anyone in the food chain. I have heard of some indie atists getting between $8 and $9 but that is rare and they have to be hot artists as well as be willing to have their album at $18.98 in the stores. I think you will find that most people, like Vince V. said are getting between $6 and $8 and that's gross not net. Pressing and other costs of marketing and production have to be recouped.

Lmfao at the dude that said yuk sells 40k since i know for a fact his 1st solo sold 500.000 copies and it was treated as a single cd and his next 2 solos sold 400k up! Not to knock you or eything playa but you givin niggaz wrong info. I dont know about the team, keak, frontline and them but what i do know is that yuks solos all end up sellin 400k and up. And mess moved atleast 100k with disobayish alone!! Its just that you post like you know the all inside scoop but my sources are pretty legit my nig, again i aint knocking ya but that shit on yuk and mess was not true.
Lol @ yuk selling 40 k. first of all yuk isn on his own independent label he is on rapalot wich was ditributed by EMI and just recently signed a deal with Warner.Anyway check the soundscans! And there are sites that will confirm it too. Also check an old interview with J prince (rapalot ceo) where he talks about sales.
You muthaphuckas are on one. If anybody would know what niggaz is really sellin it is B-12. If he says that an artist is sellin a certain # of units he is gettin that information from soundscan because he has direct access to it which I'm sure from your posts that nobody else who has posted on this thread has. This is the nigga that used to run Bayside with Rob Nonies. You muthaphuckas make me laugh challengin what he sayin and tryin to say he dont know shit. I've seen the soundscans on Yuk straight from soundscan itself and the numbers 12 is sayin is right. And dont believe artists cause they will make their #s balloon up. Messy claimed to have pushed over 20K+ of Turf Politics in Murder Dog but in reality on soundscan it was around 10K. If we all had access to soundscan we would be alot smarter about who sells what cause it would surprise alot of people what these artists is sellin in the Bay.
