DPI = Dots Per Inch (The print resolution of the image) You set the DPI when you create a new document...

for the cuttoff/bleed...is that area that you leave blank, or do you just fill it with part of the cover that's not necessary, so you don't get a white border on accident??

5" x 5" @ 300dpi with 1/4" Bleed thats a final size of 4.75" x 4.75"

The bleed is actually 1/4 All Around thats 1/8 per side.....

They all gave you the right size,but I design my covers at least 2x that size.Incase the client wants posters etc.
