This boys life

I'm sure most have seen it but its a awesome movie where Robert Deniro is Lionardo Dicaprios bully step dad. For some reason I think its funny. Like when Leo throws away the empty mustard jar and Deniro doesn't think its empty so he puts Leo in a headlock and pushes the mustard jar on Leos eye until he admits it wasn't empty. Haha then he had a big mustard ring around his eye.

Take Shelter

6/10.

It's got the dude from Boardwalk Empire. Good acting, story was pretty cool didn't like the ending much. I don't want to elaborate on the plot as it's easy to spoil. Anyways, worth checking out I guess but I wouldn't make it any priority on your list of movies to watch.

I just watched The Help.

Really good flick I'll say. I wonder if it is still like that in the South in certain areas still?

Makes me think about all these Hispanic women who are now "house maids" and are most likely treated very similar because they are most likely illegal as well.

crazy.

Classic!

This movie has and continues to have a lasting impact on hip hop. Whether its the dress, the slang, or even the pimpin'/mackin' subculture, this is probably one of the most significant movies of its kind. Many rappers have sampled music and/or quotes from this movie.

Basically, just like every other gang documentary. Gave a brief history starting from The Black Panthers and the programs and initiatives they had; the Watts Riots; the first gangs (or clubs) The Businessmen, Slausons, Gladiators, etc). All leading up to the present-day Crips and Bloods and their war that's been going on for 40+ years.

As far as what I think of gangbangin'... thats nothin' more than INEXPENSIVE POPULATION CONTROL. Its not gonna stop anytime soon. Sure, someone might join a gang for a sense of belonging, family, and/or protection. Ultimately, the end results are incarceration and/or death.

just watched this one the other night. the trailer had me pretty excited, but for some reason i was anticipating a little more violence & a stronger focus on revenge (my own fault for letting the Vengeance Trilogy have a strong influence on what i expect when viewing korean cinema). despite this, i was pleasantly surprised by the storytelling, performances, & direction of the film. basically, this is a film about a borderline retarded (maybe autistic) youth who becomes the scapegoat for a murder after a drunken night out, & his mother's quest to clear his name & find the real killer. movie is made by the director of The Host, & carries that familiar quirky korean sense of humor, but also maintains a fair bit of drama. its labeled as a "thriller," & it is, but its a slower paced one, & lasts over 2 hours.

also, i'm pretty drunk right now.
