I let the whole ice cream box melt and drink that shit... Every day. Only vanilla though. Homemade vanilla is my fav, then French vanilla n vanilla bean.. Honestly sometimes two cartons a day but shit 3-5/6 bucks a pop its expensive for a milkshake but god damn it's so goooood..
Why would you waste time making homemade vanilla ice cream just to melt it? You could just mix heavy cream, milk, sugar and vanilla extract in a pitcher, refrigerate it, and drink it like that... If you have no intention of eating it frozen you're just wasting your time freezing and churning the mixture... In fact, churning the mixture and freezing the ice cream would only increase the chances of ice crystals getting into the mix and making the melted ice cream taste worse when it can be avoided all together... Not to mention that if you're using an ice cream maker with a hand crank you've probably wasted countless hours of your life doing something that's completely unnecessary.
If you're talking about "Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream" that's not actually homemade only to melt and drink it, then that's just ridiculous and ostentatious.
