i was like damn this thread blew up quick but no just some idiot wit his letters. i feel you on it bein local music back then n they couldnt really hear some other stuff, but man to this day we still talk about albums like Season, Xorcist, Takin No Shortz, shit like that , you think we will be talkin bout albums like dinner n a movie etc... in 15 years? i dont think so. n its like everyone is just content wit the music these days. to be honest wen it comes to sac rap X is the only one to me that has been able to change up his style n its still good. . just my opinion

Shiiieeetttt! Sac just aint what it used to be man. I lived on the parkway, and florin/mack area. Times changed. So did the people. Its a new generation with no backing or guidance from these OG players and people who used to have record labels. That is what was needed to avoid this musical catastrophe we face here in CA. back when niggas was makin real music. It wasnt no " im a email u my verse" and "I need 500 a verse, 300 a beat" type shit. Peopel started cashin out there talent and next thing u know, its 15 sorry ass muthafukkas rappin about nothin that get an album on the rack at the record store cause Messy Marv done sold a million BS verses. Hollow Tip sellin verses like water to anybody. The game needs to be reinforced by talent w/talent. Look at Jt the bigga figga, get ya money get ya cash but dont give these sorry ass mufukkas beat n verses for little to nothin allowin them to waste shelf space. Somebody need to round up all the Sac Town vets, petty shit aside and be creative. Set trends for the area. Mob sound aint never left its here cats just need to jumpstart it again. all that tight jean wearing dreadlock n drake shit will pass

Part of it is that local rappers were only listening to other local rappers back then. They didn't have the internet and they were actual street dudes so they were only influenced by what they heard in the hood.
+1

The internet and newer technology have really fucked up the quality of the music industry IMO. Everything is way over produced nowadays because it's fairly easy to do with all the music programs and shit out nowadays, there are so many "new" tools and toys at peoples fingertips that they just have to use everything they have, rather than get the most out of what they have. I miss the days of people making beats out of simple older tech stuff like on Season, Xorcist, all the old rap. They really spent the time to craft the beat rather than just choose a bunch of "amazing" sounding horns and orchstras and voice changers and shit going way over the top like most "rap" is nowadays. I admit I don't listen to much new Sac rap, I'm just talking about rap in general nowadays.
