The triton is not dead. It's got a good sequencer, some high quality internal sounds and a great synth engine. Perhaps the drums and some of the preset patches are overused. But it is a synth! Make your own patches. It is also a sampler. There is nothing keeping you from throwing string samples from a samplecd into the sampler and layering them with a sawtooth wave, droping a little LFO and a long attack. Don't let your $2000 purchase go to waste without utilizing all the features and being creative. The sound that comes out of any synth is not static. Nothing wrong with going to Guitar Center and buying a Motif, sampling the internal sounds of the Motif into your triton, and then taking the Motif back.

dawg, I would be sample pro master flex if the triton would actually let you save your samples. everytime you turn the triton off you lose all that information. if you know something I don't about sampling with the triton in regards to this, please let me know! but from what I understand, once you sample into memory there's no saving it from there. maybe i've been misleaded as I tend to believe what people tell me... a little on the gullible side I suppose, but is there anyway to save your samples and easily load them back into the triton? going through floppy discs for hours isn't the best way to load up a sample bank when you gotta turn your triton off before ya goto sleep ya feel me? if I could fill the entire E bank with dope ass samples that can be easily loaded when I turn the triton on, do you know how happy of a person I would be?

I'm not a triton owner, so others would likely be a better help for this, but you can save the samples onto either a zip disk, or preferable, a hard disk so that it can be loaded fairly quick. An ideal setup would be flash memory with all your favorites, but that's not an option.

Welcome to the worlsd of Motif or Triton Studio..... The Mo Rack does not have this feature.... As of right now I can Save a 64 meg. All File that saves my User Waves, User Voices 128, User PAtterns, and any other master setting I used. The flash cards are the the Bomba. I was bout to get a Mo Rak and sell the Motif until I found out thatit has no Flash card, sampling, or sequencer....... The polophony is dope so that might be a reason to get it at 899-999 but there are some modules I would like to get even crazier sounds with like the Studio Electronics. S-E1x

Dre and Battlecat are known to use the SE-1. Essentially, though, it's a beefed up MiniMoog. You can get just as good results from vst instruments such as Model-E for a whole lot less money. Just something to think about...

most people assume dre uses keyboards for his beats cause hes west coast, but aint nuhtin but a g thang was sampled from an old funk song, and thats the way to go, go to good will and other cheap stores that sell vunyl, get some rare funk and jazz, find a little saxaphone loop or bass or whatever then loop it, the find a funk song with a drum break, dont use drums from a disk or keyboard, they sound weak and pathetic, a real drum can make your song sound a whole lot better, the drum is what makes or breaks a song, weak drums = weak everything else, get a mpc, a sp-1200, do it like hip hop supposed to be done, "now a days any punk with a keyboard can do it, yo back then apache was the shit and every bboy knew it" - thes one, im key BORED out of my mind...

Most people know Dre uses keyboards because he has keyboard players on his payroll.

"Nothin' But A G-Thang" is a replayed version of Leon Haywood's song "I Wanna Do Something Freaky To You".

Saying drum sounds from keyboards or off of a disk (I assume you mean samples) is weak and pathetic, is stupid. You obviously don't use much.

So you think hip-hop is "supposed to be done" on MPC's and SP1200's huh? You got a lot to learn homie.

Dont complain about lacking keyboard drums...complain about your lack of rhythmic skill and creativity...

get a mpc, a sp-1200, do it like hip hop supposed to be done, "now a days any punk with a keyboard can do it,
YOU ARE TELLING PEOPLE TO BYPASS SOMETHING (KEYBOARDS AND DISKS) THAT MOST LIKELY HAVE 64 VOICES (SOME HAVE 128) AND TELLING THEM TO GET A 16 BIT 32 VOICE (IF IM NOT MISTAKING) MPC AND A 12 BIT 32 VOICE (IF THAT) SP1200...

HAV EYOU EVER HEARD OF "AKAI FORMAT"????????

WHERE DO MPC SOUNDS COME FROM? A DISK RIGHT?????

NOW WHEN YOU SAY A "REAL" DRUM DO YOU MEAN A SAMPLED ONE OR ONE THAT IS ACTUALLY PLAYED AND MIKED??????? IF ITS A "SAMPLE" THATS NO DIFFERENT THAN GOING OFF A KEYBOARD OR DISK. IF YOU MEAN A "LIVE" DRUM I'D LIKE INFO ON WHAT TYPE OF MIC TO USE FOR A KICK AND WHAT I SHOULD USE FOR AN OPEN HI HAT. I ALSO NEED INFO ON SHOT GUN SNARES AND ROOM AMBIENCE.

THANKS IN ADVANCE.

i personally can afford all the gear i talk about...lol and im a firm beliver in the fact that its not what you got its how you use it, but thats definetly to an extent, cuz eventually you will have to step it up a notch to keep up with the competition. but i think that people buy something and only unlock half the power of it, im definetly a victem to that sometimes, but i have to remind mysef that when i feel that i have used all the features or presets in my gear that there is always something different i can try.......but im a sampling nut fo sho
