Hmm in order to get fame, you would either have to do your shit for years or sell out to a corporate label by being their hand puppet (that also means doing commercials for McDonalds, like them clipse sellouts).

Even being "that fucking good" does not get you paid (not right a way or not ever if you don't do shit about your talent to promote it)!

Rap right now is a HOBBY but I take it so serious I find myself balancing writing rhymes with doing homework. I'm a Black female from the Dirty South with a passion for this game and I'm a Senior in college majoring in Communications and minoring in English. Public Relations will be my 9 to 5 but rap will be a side career because that's a God-given gift that's self-perfected. I see myself having underground success and I wanna drop classic albums, own my own publishing company and label, network with talented legends like E-40 and Daz because I want to be a legend, and rep for Dirty South females with real lyrical talent and not looks alone (like that weak-ass Trina). I'm sick of fake niggas like 50 NOT WORTH A CENT, he ain't hot shit he just a former crack slanger turned overnight star. I can't say that the dopest MC's are broke because look at 40-Water he tha shit and he living kinda comfortable large mail and all...I want the underground money 'cause it's plenty dope mc's to collab with and plus I ain't gotta be on MTV to say I'm known.

You wanna express yourself, let out frustration, keep it real and all that other bullshit--do yoga.......You .wanna stack some chips and get the party crackin--DO HIP-HOP!
That's the thing, I don't want to stack chips and get paid that way.

Like Sydal says, I wanna make music you can feel or laugh to and make people say "I def. feel that way" or "that's some funny shit dawg, keep me crackin like that".
I would like rewards as well to be honest, and it is a business as long as I am investing in it but not to the point where I have to copy the next dude or whatever's in at the moment to stack a few dollars. There are other ways to stack chips and other avenues to exploit, I am not exploiting my art form to that point where it sounds like everything else that makes cash. It wouldn't be art anymore, sure you would have money but even those folk who have money aren't really all that happy or satisfied!

first and foremost i'm in this rap shit for fun, and just for tha luv of the music. i mean, rap isn't my full-time career, since i'm 17 and trynna finish school and shit, but i am takin it serious and i am currently finishin my debut album.

but overall outta the game, i hope to take my music to other places, and eventually i can make some money off of it, and live str8 off of music. the fame would be nice, but i could live without it. but it would be nice to have a name that bringz some type of underground status

Music is a gig when you know JACK SHIT about business...
Sydal are you directing this towards me?
Nawww, that was not directed at you. I should have phrased it better than that. What I mean is, and this is from my own personal point of view, that music is just a gig or a hobby to a TON of cats who don't understand the business, I've met A LOT of cats that don't know shit about the business side, I didn't when I first started, but I had to learn...a lot of people are in it just to be in it. That's all fine and dandy if it's just something for you to do and if you don't want anything out of it. However, I have met cats out there that do this shit, hoping to get paid, and when they don't, they say "It's all good, I just do it for fun", when you KNOW that they're trying to make something big out of it. Those are the cats that don't have their business straight, that know JACK SHIT!!

I don't know you so I can't say anything either way towards you....I was either going to use the word hobby or gig, and gig was the last thing I saw before I posted, I didn't even think about your post when I typed that...so my bad if you thought I was saying that towards YOU!! I can DEFINATELY see why you thought that though...I guess I'll just have to read my posts thoroughly from now on cause sometimes cats think I'm talking bad towards them when I'm not.

I couldn't tell thats why I asked that question. All Good Sydal You sound dedicated. We run our Label to the best of our ability. Knowledge of this business increases chances But it doesn't guarentee success.
